Player Signing Pats Sign Dre'Mont Jones 3/$39 million

I like it. He's got size. Everyone loves the flashy speed rushers but someone's gotta set the edge and it hurts you a lot to have to take your rushers off to do that. Very important to be able to still have some pass rush juice when playing with bigger personnel otherwise you have a weakness teams can exploit. Not saying he's a run stuffer or anything but he's got some size.

I wouldn't say this means Chaisson isn't back. I'd say this cuts into Landry's playing time from last year as he ages/recovers from his knee injury and all but eliminate Jennings' play time. The Chaisson role is still open to be filled.

Honestly I know little about him. Seems a lot of $$ for career high 7.5 sacks
Bounced around a bit - 4 years in Denver, 2 in Seattle, signed with Tennessee this past offseason and was traded to Ravens at the deadline but Pats were trying to get him then (Miss Amy didn’t want to trade with Vrabel).

No idea how he actually played, but he’s varied from 3.5 to 7.5 sacks per season and will be 29 this year.

I like it!

Does this mean the last 2 edge rushers to be signed will be one of mafe or chaisson ?

I like the signing in a vacuum, but the Pats need help on offense far more than defense. Maye is going to be running for his life throwing to subpar receivers and aging tight ends again isn't he...

I feel Linderbaum will also return to ravens at 22 million . He vastly overplayed his hands looks like. Unless raiders sign him for 25 million.

It's a half-hour into the legal tampering period.
I am aware. Also aware that the Patriots are one of the cheapest franchises in the NFL, have upcoming massive paydays for 0 and 10 and needs at TE1, WR1, LT and RT. Throwing $39M at the defense that was already a strength is not how I would have deployed limited assets, especially not at hour zero of FA.

In fairness, they had no edge rushers. Chaisson gone, Landry toast.

The Pats reportedly wanted to trade for him before the trade deadline, but the Titans' owner didn't want to help Vrabel.
it does raise the question of which is the stupidest franchise? Titans, Jets, Browns, Raiders???
