Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I saw a rumor on Blue Sky saying the Eagles turned down a 1st and a 3rd from the Pats for Brown. We’re on to Pierce.
If true, the Eagles are doing the Pats a favor like Aiyuk and Ridley did.

AKA get the deal done before Alec Pierce can be signed and ruin any leverage.

Exactly...

The Eagles want it resolved before their suitors sign other players and ruin their leverage.

The other teams want it resolved so that they know how much money they have left to work with, as acquiring Brown will impact ability to spend elsewhere in 2026.

Eagles fans want you to think that they have all the leverage, but in reality the closer we get to Monday, the trading teams end up with all the leverage as they will just say "forget it" and pivot to the free agent market.

They can f
I generally agree but I find it hard to believe Roseman would actually take anything less than a first round pick for Brown.
They can fkn keep that loser, I want no part of a malcontent with bad knee making 30M.
#Trenches and draft, or get someone else.

My expectation is that this will go one of two ways:

Option A: The Patriots trade a 2nd round pick, OR a later pick plus a player, for AJ Brown, by Sunday afternoon
Option B: The Patriots do not trade for Brown and instead pay Alec Pierce $25M+ a year when free agency opens on Monday at noon

Sure, but I’m not convinced Roseman really wants to trade Brown anyway.
Roseman probably doesn't, but his coaches are likely in his ear telling him to get the headache off the team. Brown's agent is definitely doing the same.

Want and need are two different things.

Rickey scoops is back!

Rickey scoops is back!

Has Rickey ever had a real scoop? I feel like he got one thing right once years ago that probably came down to dumb luck and has been completely wrong on every call ever since then, and deletes his tweets/account every time.

If he gets 25+, he'd better be more than that weak ass 47 receptions.

If I am pats why will I entertain any brown trade till Monday . And if aj Brown is forcing his way out. Eagles don't have upper hand.

Just offer the second rounder and take it or leave it . Alec pierce for 25 million aav for 4 years seems enticing considering there are no draft assets to expend. And I don't think it's a gross overpay . If we build in suitable incentives we are covered.

Only competition would be 49ers and chargers. But nobody throws the deep ball as good as Maye and he would be the defacto number 1 here.

He's right more than he's wrong, had Parsons, had Jakobi Myers. He's been more accurate than Schefter for sure. Does seem to get the Patriots wrong more than any other team, however.....

I don't agree with this thought process. You have to look at the type of WR he is. He averages 20 yards/catch. If you have a guy who averages 20 yards a catch and you start ramping up his volume now you're talking about a Randy Moss type WR who will get more than $25M year which is barely top 15 salary at the position and probably won't even be top 20 by the time you're halfway through the deal.

Regardless of how much any player gets you use them to their strengths. He's been a guy who makes plays downfield at incredible volume relative to that type of route. So you use that and let the space it creates underneath go to guys who specialize in those type of routes. There's great value in that even if it doesn't show up on a stat sheet for him. If you try to make him a 70 catch guy just to "justify" giving him $25M that's how he'll end up not being worth it. If you use him in the ways he's good, I think he'll be worth low end WR1/high end WR2 money via his overall impact on the offense which is about what $25M/year is in today's market.

Patriots have not been succesful with signing top tier UFAs even when offering the most money.. Trade is a sure thing. AJ is a #1, Pierce is a 2.
Give a 2nd and Pop Douglas and be done with it

I mean…Brown is a little different than Ridley or Aiyuk. Those were the guys that aren’t elite but we’re going to get that elite money.
It's the trade compensation plus the salary that bothers me. Brown isn't that guy to put a team over the top and he's nearing 30. I'd rather invest in the OL first and get more value at WR with Pierce.

Pierce is same age as Brown

AP runs go routes…that is it
Brown runs the whole route tree

Alec Pierce is 25 soon to be 26.
Sorry, I thought it said 28
But still he only runs go routes

"According to Philadelphia Sports radio personality Anthony Gargano, he claims the Patriots offered a first and third-round pick for AJ Brown. However, he could not confirm if it was in next month’s NFL Draft or in a future year. If they are in this year’s draft, that would be picks 31 and 95 overall."

TOO MUCH! Time to move on! The Eagles know the Patriots are desperate and are looking to absolutely clean them out.

He runs much more than 9s, because that is what the Colts primarily had him do does not mean he is not capable of more. Below is his Matt Harmon breakdown, reception perception

My bias may be showing, but I have a natural hesitancy to add someone who reeks of Colts, or reeks of Jets.

I can't shake it.

Its not a given Pierce agrees to sign with Pats.

If they pass on Brown they may be stuck at WR again

Insider predicts Chargers or Colts sign Pierce
