Player Signing Tommy DeVito re-signed

Considering the money, I am guessing Dobbs will be cut to save a few million in cap and DeVito is the QB2 going forward as I have been expecting for a little while.

We probably fill in QB3 late day 3.

What’s the savings on cutting Dobbs?

About $1M in dead cap and $4M in cap savings. They are basically paying DeVito about the same money they paid Dobbs.

That and maybe drafting a good guy for development that won't be a headache like Joe Milton.

I know we don't wanna see a 4th round draft pick spent on a QB but if the value is there, some guys fall on the draft board for different reasons.

That said I have no idea how good is this class for mid prospects.

Interesting. I like Dobbs. But maybe they can get a 5th or 6th rounder for him and Josh likes Tommy Cutlets.

I am guessing there will be some un-athletic but smart QB who falls to the 5th or 6th that McDaniels loves and they'll take him and let him develop slowly as the 3rd guy.

In the meantime, Maye is the franchise and has shown to be fairly sturdy, relatively speaking as far as athletic QBs go, and DeVito is experienced in the system and has shown the ability to step in and win games as a backup when needed in spot starts, while also still being young himself and having some room to grow. Good setup.

I'd have to think this signals Dobbs being cut as we can put the $3 million towards other FAs and draft a 3rd string QB

Dobbs got $4 mil for one season - I think DeVito has more upside and is still at $2 million guaranteed.

I disagree with those who think we should cut Dobbs and bring in one of the veteran QBs with playoff experience to "mentor" Maye as I don't think Maye needs it and even a guy like Brissett gets $6 million so I'd having to think anyone better is going to cost more

Guys like Klubnik, Robertson, Cole Payton could be good fits for this role.

Hes our new #2 no question.

DeVito > Dobbs.

Interesting, given they felt Dobbs was a better choice for QB2 all season.

We've taken out a $2M option.

We can bring the normal 4 QB's to camp and then choose who to keep as our QB2 and QB3 (emergency).

I see no advantage in moving Dobbs now.
