Actually...quite often.

It was common knowledge the LB's were getting older and needed attention after the 2004 season. You must have also forgotten that Bruschi suffered a stroke which could've easily been career ending. BB had plenty of time prior to the draft to address the situation, but he signed Monty Biesel who was best known for getting run over by an overweight QB. Vrabel moved inside until Bruschi returned, but it wasn't enough as the defense struggled at all levels that season.

You may also want to turn on the 2006 AFCCG and watch every TE on the Colts roster catch at least one pass. This is widely known as the "Eric Alexander" game. Everyone and their Mom knows this is why they signed Thomas in 2007 because they were among the worst in coverage and needed juice with the pass rush. Seau was cooked at 37 and complete joke you even bothered listing him as if that's a flex.

The LB's as a group were known to be slowing down even further in 2007. Because of this, the media and fans heavily mocked Jon Beason in the 1st round. Then Colvin got injured forcing Thomas from inside to outside where they had nobody capable in coverage. Then you have Thomas who erased TE's all season playing inside only to goof in coverage playing outside where Kevin Boss caught and rumbled for a 45 yard catch in SB42 that set up a TD.

BB drafts Mayo in 2008 and Bruschi was cooked. Vrabel was sent packing and Bruschi retires after the 2008 season. I'm all for having a discussion, but I don't care for these stupid ass rebuttal's with nothing to back it up like this. Not to mention the snarky attitude.

Moving the goalposts I see. “Malpractice” in 05-07 becomes should have predicted a stroke, they were slowing down by the end of it, and ignoring that he has 4 top lbs each of those years.
Changing your answer to 2008 is akin to admitting you were wrong and won’t admit it.

So what exactly was “malpractice” signing Colvin, the top guy on the market? Having studs Vrabel and bruschi? Adding Seau and Thomas? Going 17-0? Having the #2 and #4 ranked defenses in 2006 and 2007?

Reading comprehension isn't your thing. Bruschi suffered a stroke in February of 2005. That's not plenty of time to address the situation?

By the way, they signed Colvin in 2003 who later suffered a major hip injury. He was never the same and was not a coverage LB. That's one thing you are wrong about which has nothing to do with 2005-2007.

17-0 in 2007? They played 16 games in 2007 and were 18-0 by the time they were in the Super Bowl. This is another thing you are wrong about.

Actually, I did see Eric Alexander playing against the Colts and that's one of the reasons I believe the Patriots need some help at the position. Please don't take that as a slam on Alexander because it wasn't meant to be. The guy was seeing his first significant playing time of his career with a Super Bowl berth on the line so the fact that he struggled covering the Colts talented tight ends should not have come as a surprise. But relying on an undrafted guy who switched positions to provide an option at inside linebacker is a risky proposition. Alexander still shows promise and should still provide depth. But the Patriots will need an infusion of youth and athleticism at the position to prepare for life without Tedy Bruschi in the future.

Ellis’s made a few plays but he has a lot of flaws. He just doesn’t think and read like a LB. Gibbens took a lot of pt from him this year and Gibbens is a jag. Elliss has a very high price tag for a lb without a lb mind.

Problem with blocking him is that he does make posts that show football knowledge and contribute usefully to the conversations sometimes. It’s those other times, when he’s possibly trolling but more likely just exhibiting extreme neurodivergent traits, that make him painful to interact with. It’s unfortunate, because otherwise engaging in conversation with him can be beneficial..

I give people the benefit of the doubt because I like to engage with anyone who wants to have a conversation. But there's a reason there's a 3 post limit as you will enter a black hole of endless gaslighting and it just derails threads. So you have to eventually just concede and move on because the conversation isn't going anywhere.

But who cares whose opinion it is? One can simply read the three sentences and assess whether or not they have merit. Its appearance on the team's official website suggests a direct acknowledgment that linebacker was a significant area of need.
