I was just saying in another thread, how great would it be if the Patriots won in a blowout. We could all survive the night without threat of a heart attack.

So that got me to thinking, and here’s the quiz, in what four Super Bowls have the Patriots had a two score lead at any point, and what is the total time the Patriots have had a two score lead in their 11 Super Bowls?

No cheating! And yes I cheated using ChatGPT, but I believe the answer is correct, so I’ll post it after people have a chance to guess

I see this quiz has really captured the board’s imagination

I misread the question and initially got it wrong. 2001 they were up 14-3 and 17-3 on the Rams, 2003 against Carolina they were up 21-10 and the following year against the Eagles up 24-14. In 2018, they had a 13-3 lead over the Rams.

The second question nobody is going to get.

I guess the second part is kind of tricky. But your other answer is actually incorrect!

Pretty sure they had a double-digit lead on the Rams in SB36 as well.

Total minutes? Who knows? 69?

EDIT - Mystique beat me to it

I would love a blowout for bragging rights. But if the Patriots win, I would prefer watching a close game that comes down to the last play. I thrive in living and dying on every snap.

OT: Pats up 3-0 vs the '85 Bears was pure rapture.
Best 4 minutes evah!

I appreciate you posting here, think you bring good insight, and were one of the few saying that this season was going to go as it did way back, but I gotta say, this explains a lot on how you approaching arguing

With all due respect, of course.

We shouldve been up 24-3 on the rams. Willie didn’t really hafta go overboard in bumping faulk outta the backfield

36, 38, 39 and 53?

I hear you. Those are the most satisfying

Total two-score-lead game time across all 11 Patriots Super Bowls: 31:14

That entire 31:14 comes from only 4 of the 11 games:

• Super Bowl XXXVI vs. Rams: 21:00 (NE up 14–3 at 0:31 Q2 through STL TD at 9:31 Q4)

• Super Bowl XXXVIII vs. Panthers: 2:10 (NE up 21–10 at 14:49 Q4 through CAR TD at 12:39 Q4)

• Super Bowl XXXIX vs. Eagles: 6:52 (NE up 24–14 at 8:40 Q4 through PHI TD at 1:48 Q4)

• Super Bowl LIII vs. Rams: 1:12 (NE up 13–3 at 1:12 Q4 to end of regulation)

In the other 7 Patriots Super Bowls (XX, XXXI, XLII, XLVI, XLIX, LI, LII), the Patriots either never led by 9+ at all, or their biggest lead topped out at 8.

Forgot the Rams 14-3 and 17-3.
Ah right.

Looking back, it's crazy to think that the Patriots could have won that game by two or three scores.

1. They get a TD to make it 24-3
2. No hold on Faulk means NE is up 24-3
3. Any points on offense when it was 17-3 or 17-10

This seems to get lost in all of the other classics. But that was close throughout. And a pretty good game.
