The biggest advantage the Seahawks have is the PR game. Between Barringer's horrendous punting, and Shaheed's returning, that's a very concerning aspect of this game - the field position battle. Because if we're giving them shorter fields, and we're frequently starting around our own 10-15 yard line - we will lose.

This is correct. I expect Baringer will do better than the Broncos game. But he'll have to really have one of his best, consistent games.

I can't stand the narrative that the Pats have been failures or laughingstocks. It's false. I think Scotty is thinking more of the Red Flops

With this SB appearance the Pats have been in a SB in every decade since the 80s, and it would have been since the 70s if Ben Dreith didn't steal an AFCCG from them in 1976. They were the best team that year and would have easily had their first SB title.

The Pats have been to 20% of all SBs played and won 10% of them. If they win this one they'll have won 12%.

It's great to be back no matter what happens.

Just because you can't stand it, doesn't mean it's not reality.
Yammering about the Patriots being to 20% of all the SB when they stacked 9 of those appearances up in an 18yr span doesn't change history.

Let's recap:
From 1960 - 1971 - The Patriots did not have an official "Home Stadium".
From 1967 - 1975, the Pats didn't have a winning season. The BEST they did was 7-7.
From 1989 - 1992, they didn't have a winning season and put up 2 of the worst seasons ever with a 1 win season and a 2 win season.

Then you had the ownership issues. Billy Sullivan was known for his frugality. But then the Pats had 4 owners in a 6 year span. Going from Sullivan to Kiam to Orthwein to Kraft.

Then you have how the Pats were duped into trading Nick Buonicotti to the Dolphins for Kim Hammond based only on highlight films of Hammond without actually working the guy out.

The Patriots were plagued by some horrible drafts in the 80s and player issues. Do you need to be reminded about Zeke Mowatt?

The Pats being given the moniker of "laughing stock" of the league was well earned until the 3rd SB of the Belichick dynasty.

Definitely rough times but not as bad as it get's portrayed sometimes. I think @Actual Pats Fan may be on to something when he says it's a conspiracy by the NYFL.

I feel blessed having been a fan for every single one of those SB appearances.
I've been blessed by that as well. It doesn't change the fact that the Pats WERE the laughing Stock of the league for a long time.

We live in some weird times. All I heard last week was how good the Seahawks are and in the conversation of the top 5 Super Bowl teams of all time. The scariest thing about it is it's not even Gen Z spewing this crap. It's dudes over 40 years old.

There is a recent interview about this with Josh and ...whoever was interviewing him. Josh was saying in the first couple of meetings with Drake 'we can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way'. Of course Drake said the hard way... .

Having those growing pains in losing seasons I believe helped him read the defense at the LOS. This approach is slowly starting to pay off. If he continues to grow relative to experience and has a line around him, with this coach and this defense. Woah buddy. To be good at QB play, you need that intelligence. He seems to have a real thirst for it. This is a good thing for us fans.

I would like to sign Baker in the off season.

Vrabel’s worked with him a lot in aTC and he seems to have been useful on special teams.

If he has been humbled enough he has the talent to be a player.

Boutte had to grow up some too, and he was worth the wait.
I wouldn't mind that at all... what is so dam impressive with this current roster is that it's unfinished... we Project to add in FA and Draft at the skill positions..

Baker i definitely wouldn't mind another shot.. is he still in the league??

Seahawks had a good roster and added some pieces in FA... Darnold is a journeyman QB who chose to go to a ready made roster where he doesn't have be the focal point.... I firmly believe you take away JSN you force Darnold elsewhere and impact Seattle's offense.

There are worse candidates for the 90 man roster for sure.

Best comparison I ever read — it’s not perfect, but prior to Belichick and Brady’s arrival, the Patriots were on par with the Cincinnati Bengals. Yeah, the Bengals have been to a few Super Bowls too and have had a few other good teams that didn’t. Just like those pre-Brady and Belichick Patriots. But otherwise had significant periods of being known for ineptitude on the field and extreme cheapness by the front office. And at least the Browns weren’t a national punchline for their behavior the way the Sullivans and Kiam were.

Hey, I like a Pats hype image as much as anybody, but only if they’re rooted in reality. That looks like a fake nonsense quote, and there’s no #6 on the roster.

I didn't catch the # 6. Got up early and was searching facebook for new Pats news. Ran across a few and hit the road.

Good catch and contribution.

Eating the troll's breakfast and taking his lunch money. Thanks, Ms . Patchick!
I have plenty of lunch money ***** titted comrade.

Our o-line is a concern vs their d-line.

Herbert is better than Darnold, the same people who switched up on Herbert in the media will be having him as one of the top QBs if the Chargers start the first month of the season well.

If Darnold turns into a pumpkin they'll all just say "well they played Darnold who sucks"
OK, but...

I haven't seen Darnold's gf/wife (yet)

True. However, I estimate that the reason for that was 75% local Boston media, with national media following suit, thus encouraging opponents, fans - and the league - to feel that way. Probably more.

Bengals & Bucs, to name two, were arguably cheaper and worse. More than half the time the Patriots were denigrated, they had a winning record.

The reality of their unfortunate, cursed perception is that so many of those wounds were self-inflicted.

Except for Dreith. That wasn't any Patriot's fault.
