The Pro Football Hall of Fame, where arguably, the most successful, accomplished coach of all time, is not a first ballot inductee.

Rodney Harrison - the best safety over the span of his career, and one of the very best ever not named Ed Reed or Ronnie Lott - has been waiting a decade to get in.

I'll answer this. The HOF and every HOF is a completely made up construct based on made up parameters. It's entire value is based on people believing that it's process holds legitimacy and credibility. The perception that it's just a bunch of petty men with grudges picking their favorites gives it no more credibility than a few fans getting together and picking their personal HOF. If you can't live up to some sort of standard it just weakens the HOF and hurts the honor for everyone else in it. The Hall looks dumb and the distinction looks less meaningful.

The process should have more transparency as a result.

Another example why the NFL HoF is falling short of it's main purpose.

When will Tom Brady issue a statement about the snub? EVERYONE else has.

Several reasons why he really shouldn't, including his ownership stake in the Raiders.

Not the least of which being his own candidacy in 2028.

Good on Hoyer. No one in the NYJFL could come close to BB's encyclopedic knowledge of every aspect of every exhibit in the HOF. To go thru the Hall with BB's running commentary would be awesome.

Now there's a gate guard saying "you can't come in."

Polian, you are scum.

Tom Brady addresses Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame case

The Pro Football Hall of Fame's credibility and reputation took a massive hit on Tuesday night.

To the surprise of everyone but those who -- inexplicably -- didn't vote for him, Bill Belichick didn't make the cut.

Arguably the greatest coach in this sport's history wasn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

If you were to ask Tom Brady, he'd agree with most people by saying that it's an absolute travesty. In fact, right before the results were announced, he shared an emotional assessment of Belichick's career with Fox News' Armando Salguero.

Tom Brady opened up on Bill Belichick's HOF case

“I don’t believe that any coach in the history of the game has done more to earn his place in the Hall of Fame than Bill Belichick. To say that he was my greatest coaching influence would be an understatement,” Brady told Salguero.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion went on to rave about Belichick's military-style discipline and preparation. He gave him his flowers as the architect behind the league's most feared dynasty.

“His tremendous leadership, vision, and daily discipline allowed our team to excel in nearly every area for almost 2 decades,” Brady continued. “We were consistently competitive at the highest level every week as he challenged us to grow from the day that season started to the day it ended. That’s the role of the head coach and that’s Bill Belichick.”

Brady, known for his competitive drive and relentless work ethic, may have picked up a thing or two from his mentor. Per his own words, it was Belichick who kept pushing and moving the goal line further away every single day.

Because of his maniacal-like obsession to get better every day, he and Brady were just a match made in heaven.

“I had a front row seat for 20 years watching the greatest coach of all time prepare, teach, and lead,” Brady added. “He set the standard every single day. His mindset, his consistency, his ability to adapt and evolve — was unmatched. He expected a championship level standard from everyone in the building, and he got it. That’s why we won! And that’s why he belongs in Canton.”
They had a complicated relationship, and things clearly didn't end as most fans would've expected. Even so, Brady has nothing but respect for the other half of the Patriots' dynasty.

“I’m grateful for what we accomplished together, and I’ll always be proud of the team we built. No one’s more deserving of this honor than Coach Belichick,” Brady concluded.

Regardless of how anybody feels about Bill Belichick as a person, there's simply no way to deny what he did for the game.

Even those who still think he was a byproduct of Tom Brady's greatness and not a catalyst to it can only tip their hat to the head coach with the second-most wins of all time.

Belichick will eventually get to Canton, where he belongs. This scandal, however, won't go away any time soon.

I guess it was right before but I think it's clear where he probably stands today, although another statement after the fact would help too

It's unreal. Sports analysts are definitely not what they used to be. 6 Superbowls. I have no words at the moment

Definitely a protest vote by writers whose are still pissy because Bill didn't kiss their asses.

They can go suck it!

By the way, just so everyone's aware of what we're actually talking about here.

We're talking about the Hall of Fame, not the GOAT or whatever. Is he a better coach than Don ****ing Coryell? Marv Levy? Yes. Then he should be in.

We now live in a world where Bill Belichick and Rodney Harrison aren't hall of famers, but Terrell Davis and Don Coryell *are*. And Shadeur Sanders is a pro bowler.

Perhaps the decline of the NFL is accelerating more than I realize.

I've seen the cheating reasons, but if Kraft gets in, we know what the play was behind the scenes.

I get it and I don't agree with it. Imagine Brady not getting in on the first try because he spoke out about the BB snub?
The hof committee should be disbanded. The NFL needs to overrule this vote, somehow. This is cheating at its pinnacle. It's obvious to everyone.

To protect the Shield?
That was the reason he had Brady suspended 4 games. I think Goodell's narrative would be that the HOF backs up the proper punishment of the Patriots for their crimes.

Good post, however I'm going to hi-jack it for a different reason, apologies in advance.

@GreenCow This is a difference between a 1-day story (a clear and obvious interception being called a clear and obvious interception), and a "media firestorm".

I'm not sure they have the authority to.

Your point is a fair one and well-taken, but I think if Brady did say something, it would hurt his chances getting in in 2028 more than not saying anything, and there's some calculus to be done there. I'm not saying I agree with it either, but I understand.

Polian has had it in for Belichick for decades. Polian dismisses his own cheating (pumping in crowd noise) and gets on his soap box about Belichick's cheating. Polian is just pissed off that he feels he assembled the greatest talent in history and his legacy was stolen by Belichick because his Colts were pansies that got smacked down by the physical Patriots.

Screw him and screw anyone else who voted against Belichick for a first ballot HOF.
Well Jimmy just ratted him out for doing similar things with Howard Mudd and failing at it. So…

Just remember, Goodell is a puppet. Unless there's a push from his handlers, he's not doing anything.

Why do you guys still think Goodell has any autonomy? The owners pay him. The owners can fire him. Who do you think he answers to and listens to?

Why would anyone think Roger Goodell would step in? He HATES Bill.
I do not think he will but he should!
Who told the committee that they should factor in spy gate?
