Yeah we are into our 12th super bowl.. great feeling. Let's discuss how to make our offense click again.

Maye has been on and off in all 3 games. Definitely not MVP level but we faced 3 beat defenses so understandable .

But that's doesn't excuse rank bad oline play and offensive play calls further enhanced by maye's poor passes or decision making on maye's part .

How do we handle zone defense when diggs is the only person who looks open .

Why are we just doing deep routes with Boutte instead of intermediate passes.

Is Henderson still on team.

Why is Maye being a statue in pocket ?

Is Campbell and wilson to blame for the kind of pocket presence of maye.

Where are the screens.

Unfortunately it looks like they’ll step up a difficulty level AGAIN against the Seahawks.

Campbell has been absolutely awful.

That’s a real problem.

I thought Campbell was good Maye did have time. The routes run by receivers were crap or Maye did not look beyond first read. Someone needs to look at the film and let us know what they think of the way Maye played and how the oline played.

More play action and MORE bootlegs please

Humans have a flaw in their operating system where they think they see what they've already decided they want to see.

This absolutely applies to Will Campbell, who has been, despite everything, a perfectly adequate left tackle. No one's about to crown him as playoff MVP, but this thing hasn't come down to him in any of the games.

Remmber, we wound up matched up against the fifth, first, and second best pass rushes in the entire NFL. No one has been under more pressure in this entire postseason than our OL. And yet Maye's problems have rarely come down to not having time to throw.

Everyone knew going into these games that the inexperienced, kinda makeshift young OL was going to be one of our biggest problems. That problem was never big enough that we didn't win the football game.

Thing is, this OL is way, WAY more seasoned right now than it was when the playoffs began. I actually trust them now more than I did at the start of the playoffs when I thought we were gonna have a serious issue. Turns out that the OL is mostly good at not getting noticed, which if you're focusing on other players even when things go wrong, is a pretty good sign that your OL is more or less doing its thing.

And the thing about offensive lines is that you only ever notice them when they F up, so if you mix recency bias with confirmation bias, you're only ever going to notice WIll Campbell based on the times he Fs up, and so what conclusion do you come away with? That Will Campbell F's up a lot. That's pretty normal. But you really need to be aware of this and moderate your judgment with that inherent bias in mind if you want to make proper, informed judgment calls about roleplay positions whose job is to NOT be seen.

More zone runs for henderson

Screen passes to rham / hendo

Bring average time to pass around 2.7 to 2.8 seconds.

More gutsy misdirections...

And yeah lot more play action and bootlegs as requested by everyone..

And some sighting of Kyle Williams and lesser deep passes to Boutte.

How about we start by not dialing up the ghost of Antwain Smith every 1st down.
I am thinking josh wants the defense to get used to a certain pattern and then they go off script catch them by surprise and rack up some big yards .

This strat allows us to wear their defense, take out the pass rush, reduce burden on Drake slightly and gets out their defensive line to see how running can be used in second half. Josh has been to 9 Superbowls and is on his 10th . Probably the second most SB experienced coach after bill . So he should know his stuff.

I just want maye to reset and become regular season MVP Maye in super bowl 60.

15 sacks in 3 playoff games is something they should focus on.
The argument that we have gone against elite defense is not as solid as folks think because it is not like these defenses were getting an average of 5 sacks a game during the regular season. Our OL needs improvement and whatever is ailing them should be fixed or at least strengthened to give Maye some time.
For context: they sacks Mariota 2 , Dart 4 , Even Jake Browning 3 times.

That's why Chism should have been active. He's the best quick-open receiver we have.

I think the problem with this is actually Maye. He has shown that he can throw every pass, but he hasn't mastered the 2 step drop and rip it plays that Brady used Welker and Edelman effectively. And unfortunately that's what has needed the past few weeks more than anything else.

I actually thought Maye played his smartest game of the season yesterday. I think Vrabel made it clear to him that he couldn't turn the ball over, period. So he had 2 seconds to make passing decisions and he made sure that he put balls only where his receivers could get them, or missed to the same area. And he made big plays, 6 first downs, when they needed them the most. He didn't fumble, and he didn't throw an interception, and he ran their offense exactly the way Vrabel anted him to. It wasn't pretty, but it worked, and that's the quarterback's real job, winning is all that matters. This entire season and postseason is one big learning curve, and Maye has sucked every bit of it up. They may win or lose in a couple of weeks, but the season is a huge win for the program, and they are going to be in the hunt every season from here on out until Vrabel and Maye call it quits, and that's going to be a lot of fun if you are a Patriots fan. This is just the beginning.

Boutte was open in the middle several times, Drake underthrew him 2 or 3 of them. Maye is fine in the pocket, needs to take one step forward when it's clear and it has been clear much of the time. They don't seem capable of running screens. Lose yards every time. Just need to tell him to play his game, sling it.

I agree but want them to turn him loose next game.

Disagree. It's Williams and Diggs for that especially against man coverage. Chism has shown a knack for exploiting zone, but not in a "first-option" way.

I think Seattle is heavy man to man. Surtain took away the deep option yesterday, the first time he was challenged, prevented Boutte from getting to the ball.

I don't disagree, and I think that's exactly what Vrabel is going to do. Vrabel had said repeatedly in interviews and press conferences that when you really need to make a play you go to your best players. The Patriots have one game to win, Maye is his best player, and he's going to make sure that if they go down it will be with Maye guns a blazing.
