That being said, there is something to a guy with no recent tape, but for all intensive porpoises [sic], this really should be an absolute bloodbath for the D (esp with McD on staff) unless the Pats fail to acclimate to the altitude.

Stidham is a solid backup quarterback in the NFL but the idea he is some diamond in the rough is a stretch. He wasn't able to beat out Brian Hoyer in 2020 in the spring and never even sniffed the field once Newton was signed. Then he couldn't beat out an aging Derek Carr or show enough to dissuade McDaniels from bringing in Jimmy G and letting Stidham walk. The he backed up another washed veteran and the following year a rookie in Denver and there was never any quarterback competition in any place he's been.

Stidham was in the Patriots facility for 3 years (2019, 2020, 2021) and then was with McDaniels for all of 2022. He's spent more time with New England and New England coaches than not. The only years of his entire pro career that he was not were 2023, 2024 and this season.

Do we honestly believe he has completely transformed into a different person and player in just three seasons? Perhaps he may have matured some mentally and mechanically, but he's still who he is.

He’s been in a different system for a couple of years since we last saw him. We’ve seen QBs completely transformed almost literally overnight by playing for different coaches and the changing the systems they play in. Sam Darnold as likely SB QB is a prime example.

Complacency is the quickest path to losing NFL playoff football. You should know that. You’re too good not to know it.

So all-in-all; a lot of the ……BB praise your future opponent; don’t give them any bulletin board material (like: he was way too expensive for his skills Or we have a better backup. ); and wrapped in w the MV trademark ‘speak a lot without saying much.’ type of answer.

That’s a special trait that not many QB’s have and what scared me the most about Nix
If Stidham can play well enough for 3 quarters
Will he be clutch with the game on the line

But if he had that trait he would be someone’s starter by now
