I think either they get Garoppolo or draft a QB in the first or think Tribusky or Mariota are very good QBs in search of the right system.

Trubisky is so good that people still don't even know how to spell his name.

Donald Penn signing a 1 day contract to retire as a Raider.

Love the Patriots move so far, hope we can get a good WR or through the draft. Got a potential top 3 OLine, finally a good TE again, good CB depth, the LB corps should improve with HT coming back, our DLine got better too

It's clearly why he's spending like he his. I thought he'd do his usual bargain shopping, but you posted earlier they've spent more in guaranteed money today alone than in the last 10 years. Coincidence?

Definitely has nothing to do with cap space.

I've said: I love it, every single time and you know it, but whatever dude.

By the way, EVERYONE is shocked about what Belichick is doing. Is Schefter complaining too?

He didn’t say belichick has gone crazy.

and of course he spent more than he ever has before because he HAS more than he ever had before.
Anyone paying attention knew this would happen
I’m not sure how you glean shock out of schefter staring a fact.

Would love to resign Thuney and a good WR or two. Have a feeling we are going to draft our future qb early.

Pioli surprised by all the deals done with Rosenhaus clients.

2020 reminded BB what it's like to play/coach/GM without having the G.O.A.T. under center, and not compensating for that across the board. It's obvious that he wasn't going to try repeating that nonsense. That, in combination with the cap space and coronavirus contract suppressant, is why I've been saying that this would be a year for the Patriots to spend in free agency. They can get top of the pile players, pay them top of the pile money, and still pay them less than they'd have had to in a normal season. It's a BB wet dream scenario.

And, by using F.A. this way, the team puts itself at least into position to move up to grab a QB, if it wants to.

Potential 3rd down defense

Winovich
Judon
Butler
Uche

Hightower
Dugger

Have to find a way to keep Butler & extend Gilmore
Butler hasn't be re-signed yet..

We will now that DT isn’t as much of a pressing need. Not that a DT should have been drafted if a top QB was still on the board at 15, but I could easily see a scenario where Fields, Lance, and Jones are all gone by 15. We’re almost guaranteed to move up now.

Thanks for spelling it out for the bozos that are seriously too dense to see the correlation between what you can do in FA when u have a lot of space (eg. 2017 and 2021) compared to years where it is tighter because you are paying players that are already on your team.

Today would have not been possible without washing us free from 63m in what a Brady two year extension would have looked like (2*25m + 13m in dead money that we were already bouncing backwards).

Would you want them to trade up for the QB?
