The Tom Brady rumor thread

I think I've been on the list for about seven years. So I'm probably only at the halfway mark.

From your lips to God's ears... considering I'm at almost exactly double. :D

Counterpoint: I have been on the waitlist FOREVER. :D

Real talk, I hope PatsDeb renews because she's great... but that, in the silver lining of this whole end-of-an-era thing, many of the frontrunning fans ditch, and I can finally squeak through.
Yep and PatsDeb certainly is no front-runner but I wish die-hards like her can carry a little more optimism towards BB's ability to rebuild/reload.

Bill is in a better position to evaluate Tom than we are...he's the same guy who dumped a good QB in Bledsoe for an even better one. I trust he'll make the right decision again. More often than not he's done a good job evaluating when a player is no longer productive. His drafting is another story though...
He drafted Jimmy and developed TB12 and even made Cassel productive. If we want to eval BB's ability to draft QBs its pretty freaking good.

Entitled NE fans are going to have to get used to being “in the hunt” rather than “presumptive favorites”. An that’s gonna happen within a year or two even if Brady does stay.

Unless they add two impact players on offense they are "in the hunt" with Tom.

I'm on board with this. I go back to Plunkett. We went thru Grogan, Eason, the dark times with Millen, Flutie, Zo, Bledsoe and now Tommy. I'll be rooting for the next guy, grateful that Brady has accomplished so much, happy to have been here to enjoy it, and a better, smarter Pats fan for the experience.

And, if we end up with Brady and he he suddenly becomes 43, 44, 45 yrs old and we end up 9-7, 8-8, or worse, I'll ***** and moan that he hung on too long and I'll be ok with it in the long run. Tom, Bill, the Krafts, and the whole organization are playing with house money from my vantage point. I will always be grateful to this organization for everything they've accomplished on our watch as fans.

LOL. "Presumptive favorites" Maybe to win the East. The Pats have won largely in years where other teams were the presumptive favorites - i.e. Seattle (2014), Atlanta (2016) and 2018 (Chiefs and Rams).

What separates NE and always has is its coaching and organizational structure and last I checked BB is still running things with Kraft writing the checks. We don't need a Brady caliber QB to win championships, just a solid QB who does not turn the ball over and manages the game well and then we just watch the rest of the league puke on themselves on our way to more Lombardi's. But I appreciate the sentiment. I know it must have been a nightmare the last two decades and the thought that BB just might find another QB would be too much to bear hence your post on our fansite to quell your fears ...

I agree 100%. I also agree with RW about having more faith in BB to rebuild/reload.
But I think we all know there's probably never going to be another Brady in our lifetimes and never another run like the 20 years we just had.
So if this is the end of the 2 goats winning us any more SBs,or at least making us serious contenders(I don't think it is- I see 2 more years of both), then a little mourning is only natural.
It's been a helluva run. Being a fan since the early '60s only makes me appreciate what the 2 goats have done even more.
See I've sat on those aluminum benches, inhaled the piss stench, lived thru the Sullivan years, etc.
There were a lot of good times as well as suckiness but TB and BB made it all worthwhile.

My whole life I've only ever rooted for the laundry. But Brady has put so much good stuff in the bank that I frankly am sympathetic to (even if I don't exactly share) the perspective of the equal-parts Brady / Patriots fan.

That being said, IBWT. And though it's naive to believe that such things are forever, I do expect that the culture that's been built here will be conducive to fielding a team that is at least competitive, even when not the most talented, for years to come.

I remember the unpredictable underdog days well and they were fun -- made winning all the sweeter.

Exactly how I feel.

Yep. I'm a laundry guy too. My belief is as long as ownership, FO and coaching is strong, good things happen.

If Tom walks, that does not change

its not happening tony. he doesn't have it in him anymore. i wish he did.

Well I won't argue with you about that but personally I can't come to that conclusion based on the rash of injuries, the AARP TE of the year candidate, the AB clown show, and a Sanumi to throw to.

We'll see.

If Brady does go to Tennessee I hope they get AB as well and win the SB
