EDIT: McDaniels to Colts is now NOT going to happen.

After all the **** he took for getting rid of that bum Cutler, McDaniels would have to have balls of steel to go into Indy and push a Luck trade from the get-go. I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but the optics would be pretty rough to handle in your first year. But, if there is still uncertainty with Lucks shoulder, and you’ve got a guy in the draft that you are in love with, you make that pick. Sit Luck till he heals up and then trade ‘em. Before drafting any qb though, you might want to get that oline fixed.

I guess it depends on how recently hired GM Chris Ballard handles the fallout and whether he will take responsibility for the decision not to gamble on Luck making a complete recovery.

Agree OLine neeps help but with #3 pick they could always trade down and still get the best tackle in the draft.

If as you suggested they play Luck and then trade him but he continues to under perform then his asking price continues to drop.

Play into many as 10 teams desperation to upgrade their QB position this off-season creating a trading frenzy,

I wish him luck. He's a much better coach now than he was 10 years ago. He'll need a good talent scout/GM though, to talk him out of future Lawrence Maroney, Chad Jackson, Tim Tebow, Kevin O'Connell infatuations.

From a personal point of view I just don't see Josh McDaniels succeeding as a head coach. His temperament when he was Denver HC was lacking and he didn't last too long. Perhaps he has matured and learnt a lot the second time around with the Pats. But it's really difficult to make a call when Brady has been back to his best post cruciate injury winning two more Super Bowls with the chance of another next week.

Josh might be one of those coaches which excel as a co-ordinator, plenty of coaches have had a superior career and make for a better co-ordinator than a head coach. Wade Phillips has found his niche as a successful co-ordinator and not been a notable head coach despite being given more than one attempt at it.

There are many factors in succeeding how one fares as a head coach such as ones relationship with the GM, finding super star talent, developing lower draft picks, not suffering key injuries etc...

I'm far more bullish Matty P will be an excellent head coach and will be more successful as a head coach than Josh. I've always wanted MP as the long term successor to BB at the Patriots. But it's far more likely once BB steps down the Pats will have a series of Head Coaches who will not be able to match the same standards we enjoy with BB in charge. Further proof we are living through an anomaly and a once in a generation (or life time) as the greatest head coach in the league. We should all enjoy the moment.

Josh better hope when he gets to indy he gets that horrid OL they currently have to get much improved and better pray that Andrew Luck becomes comeback player of the year because if that doesn't happen, his record as a HC might not be any better than in Denver

Agreed. I'm rooting for Jimmy in SF.
I hope Patricia does well in Detriot, but don't that much.
If McDaniels went to any NFC team including the Giants, or most AFC teams, or even the Jets for that matter (no longer hate them, it's just pity) I'd be happy to see him succeed.
The colts though, with their history of competition committee tweaking against the Pats, and their drug addict owner who tried to blame the drugs on his maid -- I hope they never make it to another sb.

You just chose the Jets over the Colts? What the ****ing ****?

And I like that he's going to the Colts. It shows that Irsay and Co. finally realized if you can't beat them (and holy ****, did you try everything, including modifying the rule book), you might as well join them.

There's something nice about having Irsay finally bend down to kiss Belichick's rings.

How embarrassing for you.

Hah! That crackhead is going to **** up the team. Bad move McDaniels, Bad move!

Never been a McDaniels fan so I am relieved he is moving on, but what a slap to the face for Brady and the Pats.

Very, very strange choice as well with the qb situation so up in the air and McDaniels knowing they drove the Deflategate framejob.

I don’t care if Grigson is gone or not. Irsay and his loser self still remains.

Tenn seemed to be the far better fit, IMO.

Will Chad O'Shea be the new OC and Brian Flores as new DC.

Then they need to draft a future QB. Patriots dominance into the next decade.

I like Mcdaniels but i hope we destroy the dolts next year. It just bothers me that he chooses the team that turned the deflategate BS

I believe they have some cap space. Could they go after solder or get dion lewis from us? He knows those guys.

keep any eye on richmond spiders qb, kyle lauletta.

Quite a few guys he can drive the price up on us for. You’ve got Solder, Lewis, Amendola, and Burkhead just to name a few. Same could be said for Patricia with guys like M. Butler, M. Brown is up next year I believe. That’s a downside to your guys moving on. You’ve got more competition not just for your own coaches but you’ve also gotta battle with teams that are looking for the same type of players as you. If we were any other team, I believe long term we would suffer from it, but Bill will look at the situation, and if the economics get thrown off, he’ll back up and change the philosophy up a bit. No organization is better suited to handle the situation than us.

I do want to add that the next few years this team is going to look incredibly different, and I’m excited about it. Not that I want the team to change. I love the team we’ve got, but watching the reload instead of rebuild and come out a new unstoppable machine is so much fun to watch.

Pagano should be the coach. In fact it should be a rule for pulling that punt. He can either keep coaching Indy or he has to do a sitcom

Can’t wish him well at all. Going to Indy is as bad as going to the Jets, Ravens, Steelers, or Dolphins. I hope he loses every game.
