Malcolm Mitchell

Perhaps this will lead Reiss to add more context to his feeling that Mitchell wasn’t coming back and what it was based upon.
Not yet. You are suggesting BB would divulge his plan. I am skeptical. I don't think they go to Denver with same front 7. Big unknown is possible trades by tomorrow. Let's see if Valentine is at practice next week.

I’m not saying BB will divulge anything. I’m saying maybe Reiss will now clarify his earlier comments about his “sense” on the topic.

I see no reason that he would as the basis for his statement was not divulged but remains. BB's comment doesn't change anything that I can see. If Reiss thinks otherwise, I'm sure he'll let us know.

I think his original statement was a guess (he as much as said so) and now he had information however cryptic.

I was not expecting a big 2nd year jump since I think he already "made" the jump from the get go getting acclimated to the NFL very quickly and contributing on a SB year.

But losing the 2nd year, if he comes back next year I think we can expect a setback in his chemistry with Brady and getting #4 or #5 WR targets. It all depends on BB's plans for the position, it seems based on recent acquisitions (Cooks and Dorsett) he is looking for a WR corps different than what we had in all these years post Moss.

It's now Eight weeks are they planning on Shutting him down or activating him?? Are we going to hear something on Malcolm Mitchell real soon? He was decent in the RZ last year and we are struggling there now. I know the concensus is leaning toward the Defense with possibilities of VValentine and and Shea McClellin. But can we waste a Talent like Mitchell if he's healthy knowing he fills a need?

Maybe this can cheer you up a bit..

Some new information here:

On Friday, Mitchell was in the locker room during the media-access period, which was one of the first times (if not the first time) that has happened since he landed on IR. He recently started running again.
This looks like progress for Mitchell, though we have no timetable. If he could be available this season, it would force BB to choose between Mitchell and Valentine as only one can return (in addition to McClellin). Will be interesting to see any new faces at practice.

He wanted out of Pittsburgh via a Trade he's unhappy about his diminished playing time.
The Steelers are not trading him to anyone that might be a threat. He'll sit on the bench or the couch until the off-season and then they'll look to move him.
Maybe a guy like Adam Humphries from the Bucs could be available.

If they don't get another WR...they're not winning a SB. Teams will just double Gronk.

Yikes! That's one hell of a hawt take bud.

OK, great, Mitchell started "running" again...I bet Edelman is "running" by now

I REALLY hope Mitchell comes back because he is another LEGITIMATE third down target between the #s - something this team sorely needs...

GO PATS

Man this is tough.

Shea is not a rock star but Marsh can't set the edge to save his life. At least Shea did ok in that regard.

Valentine has been practicing so he seemingly is closer to returning then MM and with only two fatties they might need him.

With that said, if Hogs is done or out for a while and if MM needs 4 weeks to be game ready then maybe they activate him.

Anyways.....Foxboro Flu will be coming around in December.

Important point that running is a far cry from being in football shape. Unfortunately we cannot tell if or when he would be ready to practice (nevermind play). But I would say that if healthy, he would bring tremendous value.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Imo, bringing back VV gives the front seven a huge boost and with a trickle down effect helps the secondary. IOW an even better defense.

But others have made legitimate arguments for MM's return which is now an even stronger one with the injury to Hogan.

If Hogan is able to return then I hope they bring back VV. If Hogan can't return I'm not sure Dorsett can fill Hogan's role alone.

Tough call.

Goddamnit, O'Shaugnessy you motherfucker.
