I know you don't think Goody's persecution of the Pats and the Nazi's persecution of the Jews carries the same weight but to say the lack of justice is comparable doesn't resonate. There has to be a better comparison out there you can make.
My feeling is that it should not be dismissed simply due to it being in the context of sports, or even entertainment. It shouldn't be dismissed at all, rather the opposite: examined and accurately studied and publicly exposed. It's corruption perpetrated under the guise of authority, and then backed up by the courts...I just don't know whether the result would have been different if Tom were black...

Maybe because it's the USA a reference to what was done to Japanese-Americans in '42 would be more appropriate...again, on a larger, different scale, but heinous and unacceptable as well. All of us need to be aware and never forget it.

I understand your view but IMO you are really stretching the correlation between the two.

@robertweathers is being too nice--it's a batshit comparison, stop making it.

Citing to the Holocaust has diminished the impact of citing to the Holocaust, and has largely turned it into a joke. You can add that in with

Hitler
Racist
Sexist
Bigot
Homophobe

and several other labels, comparisons and the like that were run into the ground. Hell, the Hitler usage even has its own name (Godwin's law).

"Stop with the persecution complex."

Sure Greg, just as soon as uninformed idiots stop making up ****. Tons of people out there STILL THINK the Patriots taped the Rams' walk through before the SB, that they bug the locker rooms, they only give the other team warm drinks, and cut out the coach-to-QB radios, and so on and so forth....
The beauty part is other players/coaches believe it too... One crackle in a headset that you'd get anywhere from Tampa to Seattle, and you're in these dum dums' heads all day long.

The downside is they all continue to propagandize, and boo hoo, we all have to answer for it every time we put on a jersey.

Screw it. I'll take the paranoia-induced losses. (Clarification - losses for paranoid excuse monkeys that is)

I know it's not a popular take, but I agree with him.

Some of our fans are insufferable. I'm sorry, but it's true. The insecurity and insistent need to try and justify all of the teams accomplishments to other fans who will NEVER, EVER change their opinion of us, is (dare I say) embarrassing.

More of us need to have thicker skin and just enjoy the historic run that we are on. Don't let other people take even an OUNCE of joy out of it.

I know many of you are not old enough to remember the 90's and what it was like to be on the OTHER SIDE of this thing, routinely getting beat down by Kelly and Marino. I hated those guys worse than AIDS!!

I can only imagine how much other teams must despise Brady.

Ask yourself this..

How would you feel if Brady and Bill were on the Jets for the last 15 years?

My brother swears he saw fatty bedard at the Y playing basketball by himself, barely moving but sweating like a pig and throwing brick after brick....I always chuckle at the way he describes it

I guess every team lost a million dollars, two draft picks and it's starting QB for four games for an equipment violation that wasn't even remotely legitimate.

I must not be paying attention.

I guess you are another poster that gives the league office far too much credit. Conspiracy? No. Incompetence? Yes. once Kravitz started the hysteria, and the other owners got news, a ridiculous series of events was put into motion. Then, it all became about covering their butts and not admitting their initial mistake of not knowing about the IGL. This is the same incompetence and bad judgment that led to bountygate, the Ray Rice fiasco, and other disasters of ineptitude.

Godwin's law and Muphry's law are pretty much the absolute bedrock of all online discussion communities. They've been a thing for at least 20 years now, and I've yet to encounter a situation where either failed to be true.

Didn't the propaganda lead to DefameGate, which then exposed Kraft's ignorance/naivety regarding CameraLocationGate?

Bedard's entitled to his opinion and he never particularly bothered me. But the fact that he's chosen to hang around with morons is bound to cause him some grief (self-inflicted or otherwise) along the way.

My message to Bedard is this -

While I do not feel in any way persecuted, my feelings about the NFL will never be the same. Commissioner Scheisskopf has revealed himself to be as untrustworthy as he is incompetent and that's no small accomplishment. That he presided over this abomination in the name of "integrity" is a public disgrace from which the league will never fully recover. Even the worst haters know that anyone would have to be a complete idiot to believe anything Scheisskopf or his band of overpaid imbeciles have to say on any matter whatsoever. (Just look at Pinocchio Blandino's weekly Baghdad Bob clown show, which would be hilarious if it wasn't such obvious and pathetic propaganda.)

Hey Greg - if this makes me a bad fan, so be it. I'm good with that. In fact, I'm proud of it. But I am NEVER going to get over this.

Up yours, Roger. Love football, hate the NFL.

Conspiracy? No

What!?!?!?!

That f**kng douchebag grigson emailed the league before the game and told them to watch out from the air pressure in the footballs because the ravens thought THEIR OWN kicking balls weren't proper. Which the kicking balls are only handled by the refs before the game

The email was CC'd to everyone in Game Ops, including Dean Blandino who was on record saying that they never received a complaint from douchebag grigson. LIE.

Then conveniently Kensil and Vincent were at the AFCC. Then you had non-other than CLETE BLAKEMAN as one of the guys measuring the balls at HT which conveniently all of the Pats got measured but only 4 of the colts balls got measure.

Jump to hours later when mortenson tweeted out his BOLD face lie he got fed by Kensil. Which later the nfl made the Patriots sign a NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT to get the proper PSI readings. Not to mention the Patriots lawyer before that had been demanding the nfl to correct the misstatements made

Mike Kensil to Dave Schoenfield (Pats head equipment manager) after the colts ran to the nfl during the AFCC before the other balls were measured: "You're in big f*cking trouble"

How did Kensil based on 1 football know that the Pats were going to be "in trouble"???

But ya absolutely no conspiracy there.

All the tags you attached to the start of the thread are spot on, especially the last one, trolls.

Bedard goes on Felger's show. Guess what the outcome is going to be?

They throw fecal matter against the wall just to see what sticks.

They'll make up any crap they can imagine, just as long as it raises the bile of the listeners.

That's their job. They do it all day every day. Manufactured stories, all of them pure human waste.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me every day, shame on me.

I never considered Dan Marino a cheater, or even Shula. My level of respect for them, and Kelly, varied and fluctuated over the years, but especially after 1976, I never was interested in any other team being treated unfairly, whether I rooted for them or not.

How would I feel?

How DO I feel, rooting for the Patriots for four decades, having a championship stolen and seeing other, hated, despised teams win the Super Bowl year after year after year. Like a football fan, and a Patriots fan. The media can live in their own litttle stupid world. In the days leading up to SBXLIX, the radio talk show idiots were all wailing on the air about 'deflategate'. I called in and said "Hey guys!!! Happy Super Bowl Week!! I'm happy this happened, because it's exposed all these people and former and current players and coaches and fans as the total morons they are!..."

I don't see anybody here attempting to justify the team's accomplishments. And, I don't hear any of us trying to changes morons' opinions. I certainly was never jealous of the Steelers, Cowboys, Raiders, Dolphins. I just wanted us to beat the crap out of them, and in this century, it's happened.

Maybe some fans are insufferable. But, those that complain about the NYJFL at least have a point, and are justified. Unlike the seemingly countless nonsensical diatribes of other teams (Raiders: Immaculate Reception was a correctly called, legal play, just like the Tuck Rule) including ridiculous accusations of nonexistent rule violations by the Patriots.

I found the Ninkovich suspension refreshing, in that Rob evidently really did something wrong.

What I found bothersome (and what I can't believe Al Michaels was able to put up with) was/is the media's and broadcasters legitimizing the thing. Were they going to fire Michaels if he said, "This whole thing sounds completely stupid." And, as it turned out, it was. Completely.

Thick skin? For sticks and stones, sure. For lost first round draft picks, $millions in fines and a suspension? No, this is unfairly penalizing a team and putting them at a competitive disadvantage. Patriots fans cannot protest enough.

I have to respectfully disagree with this. I understand your point of view, I just feel differently.

If spygate had happened to Kelly's bills or Shula's Dolphins...Id have jumped on that like a starving dog on a steak. I know that in my heart.

So it's hard for me to chastise other fans for hating the Pats. Instead, I just laugh at them and revel in the hatred. I just cant justify getting upset at this point. There comes a time when you just have to accept the role of villain. And that time has long come and gone for us.

It seems harder for old time fan's (like yourself) and new generation fans (those who came of age in the Brady Era) to just let stuff go. And I get it... It's maddening if you let it be.

I've just come to terms with our place in sports history, and find it to be whiney when I see our fans feeling the need to fight a losing battle against public perception.

We live here in Russia, and whatever News Agency TASS says, we believe, we accept it as the truth. What are we going to do? Disagree? It would be of no use. Life goes on.
