Favre ball-washing continues...

I stopped paying attention to Bayless a couple years ago when I heard him in a debate about the best clutch QB in the NFL. Obviously, I would have said TB, but I could see making a case for Peyton, Brett, and maybe a few others. However, this moron said he wouldn't take TB or Peyton, he would take Jay Cutler......

Jay Cutler....you must be joking...but he was dead serious. The guy he was debating was incredulous...

Skippy also said the Dolphins would take the throne of the AFC East from the Patriots before the 2006 season. Skippy also said after the Celtics beat the Lakers in Game 1 that even if the Celts won Game 2, the Lakers would win 4 straight games and win the NBA title. He is a MORON.

Yah, someone posted it here. Starts with Miami. I would KILL to see Penny go there and the Phins win opening day. Ain't gonna happen though.

Man, that would be a great game to watch. Just imagine the headlines for the NY papers after a game one loss to Miami. If Favre got his feelings hurt in Green Bay, just wait until the NY press goes to work on him! :scared:

Have you seen the R-A-T-S' schedule? That team should win 7 games sleeping, assuming the offensive line does show improvement.

Dolphins
Patriots
Chargers
Cardinals
Bye
Bengals
Raiders
Chiefs
Bills
Rams
Patriots
Titans
Broncos
49ers
Bills
Seahawks
Dolphins

Yes, they shoud be favored in the Dolphins, Bye, Raiders, Chiefs, 49ers, and Dolphins games. Except the Dophins have always played them tough. Toss in an upset or two, and they get to seven wins...

Re: Favre ball-washing continues..

The distasteful aspect was the Packers attempt to control a player's future. They in no way wanted to trade Favre. They wanted to see him retire and short of that they wanted to bench him, but 12.5 mil in salary and cap space made that impossible, so they had to trade him.

Favre wanted to go to Tampa Bay (short of a Minn deal.) Who in their right mind would want to go to the Jets right now? I doubt very much that Tampa couldn't or wouldn't counter the Jets offer. GB just wanted to stick it to Favre for the whole saga taking place.

You're an idiot. Obviously plenty of people wanted to go to the Jets right now. Keep deluding yourself into believing that the Jets won't be competitive. I won't say that the Jets will beat NE in week 2, but it is certainly a possibility. There is a difference between believing that your team is good (and clearly the Pats are good) and having to constantly say the Jets suck. Fact is that with or without Favre, the Jets were already going to be much improved from last year. Favre potentially shores up the area that many considered to be the biggest weakness on the team. How could you not expect people to feel like the Jets are going to be better, even good, and probably a playoff team? The D is going to be very good, if not excellent, and the offense should be much improved, not just because of Favre, but because of the line and running game. Stop being ignorant. The Pats are still a better team than the Jets, especially until any of the teams suit up and play a game. But, you are delusional if you think the Jets are only a 7 or 8 win team this year. I'm not on the Jets will win the division and win 12-13 games bandwagon, but I think 11 or 12 wins and a playoff spot are reasonable expecations. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think you're overvaluing the addition of mass free agents. See Redskins, Washington.

I'll say anywhere from 8-10 wins. They won't go under .500, and I won't be surprised if they beat the Pats in the SECOND game they play agains them, but they're not gaining more than 6 additional victories just because they added a few pieces. No one even knows if these players are going to gel.

Let's not forget that he said he'd take Dwayne Wade over LeBron James any day of the week. This might have been the better of his comments considering Wade is good. But LeBron James is out of this world. That sealed the deal for me. I wonder if he tries to be an idiot. Like it's his schtick or something.

I am only saying that because I care - there's a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.

Re: Favre ball-washing continues..

I had to reread your post a few times because it sounded like you were actually going to the Weather Channel.
It is a bit confusing. Yes I was going to the weather channel to see about thunderstorm warnings when i passed espn. I didn't stop at espn 1 because i could see what they were talking about. But espn 2 was different.

I should have my old sig up: "This poster is spelling and keyboard challenged"

Typical Jet logic.

I'm not saying we'll win 12-13 games, but we could win 11 or 12.

You know 12 is in both of those right?

Brett Favre: Cheezehead to Rat Fink

No one is asking him to be their starter for the next 10 years. He's gonna possibly play only one year, make the teams millions of dollars and hopefully rub off, or rub one off, on Kellen Clemens.

HAHAHA. Gross.

There are some great lines in this thread!

Re: Favre ball-washing continues..

Bayless is completely worthless, don't put any stock in what that guy has to say. ESPN couldn't help themselves today though....I figured when i tuned in from time to time there would be a lot of Favre ball washing, but a couple things got me:

-After a Favre montage on ESPNEWS they faded away from a pic with Favre and his new Jersey....and the commentator sighs and says "everything is alright in the world tonight" (who knows, maybe the guy thought he was off the air by then)

-Bonnie Bernstein on NFL Live couldn't stop giggling and smiling. Then she would slip in the 'lord favre' comment...only she wasn't joking!

On the bright side, there's no spygate talk!

I just went on ESPN.com and couldn't find a single thing about Favre on the front page.. This has only been going on for a month now.. why have they dropped the coverage?? Isn't this still newsworthy?? After all, it's the (not-so)Great Faavvvv-rah... Where are all the writers blowing sunshine up this guy's butt?? Have they FINALLY run out of things to say?? Or are they going back into their caves to check their thesaurus' to find NEW superlatives that haven't been used yet?? (Not sure that's possible)..
This guy is D-U-N done!! All these writers are gonna look like fools with their bold predictions.. The Jets were an average team with no QB, and now they're an average team with an overrated, washed up QB.. With their creampuff schedule, they'll still be lucky to finish 8-8.. Although I'm sure we'll hear every painful detail of the Great Favre.. UGH..

didnt i just see this somewhere?

Just came back from New York yesterday, and the local radio stations are predicting a decent shot at a Super Bowl and definitely 11-12 wins and playoffs. They believed that with their offseason additions they were going 9 wins anyways and Farve adds 2 wins just by himself. What they forget is that they won just 4 games last year and Farve may get you 2 wins, but he'll lose you 2 games with his "heroics".

They also had a back and forth on what quarterback is better than Farve TODAY, not career or future, but for 2008 season.

One of the two guys had to be convinced that he did not want Farve over Brady. His rational was that Brady is a statue and Farve is much more mobile. Hello? Didn't Green Bay have one of the best offensive lines last season and Farve still threw a bunch of INTs (low by his career standards). Guy was being a real dumb****. They finally both agreed that Manning and Brady were above, but Farve was clearly the 3rd best QB. I was so pissed these idiots are allowed to have an opinion and actually try to make a case for their biased statements.

With all due disrespect to ESPN, they can't be the All Favre Network with the Olympics going on.

Once they are over with, it will be back to Favre Love/Pats Hate.
