They were pretty ****y through the first quarter. They didn't start to fold their tents until the Celtics bench started extending the score...
After that it got a little ugly, though most of the anger seemed to be directed at the Euroweanies. By the end those who hadn't bailed for the beach or Baywatch reruns were getting pretty wound up over the classless C's piling on (what is it about you left coasters and your delicate sensibilities...it's not like Phil never poured it on) and making predictions for 2009. I think those who expressed anger at Kobe were the ones who had convinced themselves that he was Michael. And he's not. He's a really strange guy who isn't wired like the rest of us. He's not terribly likeable despite his scripted efforts to become so. He can't play with a a big two or three mentality, and he can't win without one. Somewhere last night Shaq was snickering. The Lakers fans want him because everyone says he's the best. Unfortunately if he can't carry a team to a championship on his own, it won't matter. Some of them seemed to grasp the fact that absent a physical defense they may remain not only stymied by the east but in trouble against the Spurs when they are healthy. The West may have more offensive star power, but the East plays relentless team D.
