I'm not jumping for joy or anything but as the last pick of our draft you can't really go wrong with a guy like bo.
As an avid nebraska fan I've seen my fair share of Ruud over the last 5 years. On the right side we've probably had one of the worst DCs in college football the last 4 years though it didn't become painfully evident until last year when we were rated 112th in the nation in defense. So bo didn't receive good coaching, there may be untapped potential there. He also has a reputation for being a heady player and a hard worker. I would not call him a difference maker in any possible world but he is serviceable and can *usually* be relied o to make the play expected of him. And he comes from a great bloodline.
The bad:
There is still a linebacker on the board from Nebraska that is significantly better. again, maybe not according to the Pats scheme, but from a overall talent and athleticism standpoint. His name is Steve Octavien. I also wouldn't call bo a particularly tough ad grimy player. I've never been convinced that he has any sort of mean streak. Durability has been an issue. Finally, and most troubling, he wasn't even a full-time starter on a defense raked 112th nationally. He had to trade time with Lance brandenurgh who plenty of husker fas viewed as superior.
As a 6th round pick, however, you can't go wrong with a guy like Ruud. At Best he could develop ito someone like an Andrew Shanle of the Cowboys, he is that type of player. At worst you're out of a 6th round pick. Likely we get a guy who will understand the defense and his responsibilities, who we don't want to have to rely on for an extended period of time but who might be serviceable. I'm excited to have another Husker on the roster!
