Who would you most want the Pats to trade for?

Ed Reed would be nice, but I think Jason Taylor would have a bigger impact with the team. Our secondary needs a CB (if they let asante walk) and we need LB. A great pass rush is the best way to make your secondary look good. Anyways, as stated above, Ed Reed isn't going anywhere. The Dolphins, however, are in the state of rebuilding, so they might let go Taylor if they like an offer.

I don't even know why CJ would be on the list. We don't need more offense.

Unless BB is going to switch up to the 4-3 a lot more next season, I'd take Ed Reed.
I see more potential for versatility in the secondary with Reed, Rodney, Merriweather, and co.

Although, if Taylor can play both sides, he'd give us another AD/ Demarcus Ware type player who can cover short and rush the passer.
That doesn't get the Pats any quicker on d in that scenario though.

If I was Belichick/Pioli, I'd trade my entire draft for Ed Reed and possibly offer sexual favors to the Ravens GM as well. Reed is a once in a lifetime player, the best safety since Ronnie Lott and perhaps even better than him. He's the best player in the NFL who's not a QB. The Ravens will not trade him.

Given the choice between Ed Reed and Jason Taylor+Chad Johnson together, I'd still pick Reed.

Ed Reed, no question. We don't really need anything at WR, and DL is still a strength even without Taylor. I would love to see an Ed Reed back there. That said, it will never happen.

Reed has a value. What it would take to trade for him, as well as pay him would be excessive.
Sure, I guess if you said we could steal him for a 3rd round pick, it would be great to get him, but the asking price will be ridiculous.

Trades in general are not a good plan in the NFL. You are dedicating cap space to a guy who will be paid his value, but also giving away picks or players to get him, thereby exceeding his value. The only time trades work are when you have a good player in a bad situation, and he is unable to demand the market value contract that you perceive he will get. In other words UNDERRATED players. Dillon and Moss are perfect examples. Reed is anything but underated. We are better using the cap money and picks than to overpay for one player who will cost a kings ransom.

Not necessarily. Things and situations can change. New rookie HC in Baltimore, still no QB, and they are feeling the cap pinch. Probably won't happen this year, but next year Ozzie could perceive him as too costly for a rebuilding franchise...
