The New York Giants. I think Tom Coughlin has a similar mentality as Belichick. I'm glad their team has been successful in the post-season after he was criticized for playing his starters in Week 17.
First of all, following the Pats lead requires a Coach/QB combo that is for the ages.
If I look around the league, I don't think there is any Coach/QB duo that comes near to stacking up, insofar as we can judge some of the younger coaches.
Eli is starting to look like the QB the Giants thought they had drafted, but I don't think Coughlin is anywhere near as smart as Belichick, though he deserves props for chaning his style this year and allowing the giants to reach or exceed their potential.
Turner and Rivers? Turner has been around a good while and hasn't shown the brilliance of BB. Rivers is a flake, with moments of greatness and then stupidity.
Phillips and Romo? Puhleeze. Neither one looks like the real deal. Romo, to paraphrase George Steinbrenner, looks like Mr. November and December, but forget about it in January. Phillips? Enough said.
McCarthy and Favre? McCarthy might have the goods based on his first season but Favre is at the end of his career, so we'll never know.
DelRio and Gerrard? I'd say a big no for Gerrard. Jury's out on Del Rio.
Fox and Delhomme? Delhomme hasn't made it happen yet. Fox is 51--45.
Dungy and Manning. Dungy's mind is elsewhere. Peyton's great but he's only gotten it done once.
Rat and Clemmington. Come on.
Tomlin and Big Ben. Ben has been consistently inconsistent and Tomlin was definitely looking like a deer in the headlights this season, tho we should give him time.
Fisher and Young. Jury's out on Young. Fisher's 115--99.
Holmgren has proven that you can never go home again. Andy Reid's chances dissipated with his personal problems and McNabb's decline.
Have I missed anything?
