Seems to be some question on Baringer/Jacobs. Reports said they were given a designation to return (which is how I marked them), but Patriots.com has them on IR and only has Bryant with the return designation. So this might still be pending.

I'm also not seeing Haskins on the practice squad on Patriots.com, either. So that's another one to keep an eye on.

Bryant had to be given the DTR designation at the time of the cutdown or he'd have been lost for the year.

Baringer and Jacobs do not have to be designated until they are healthy enough to start practicing.

Seems like there's a lot more late pre-season turnover this year on both the active roster and PS - which I predicted but not quite to this level.

Still, I'm pleased that Vrabel didn't like what he had for depth and is reshuffling the deck to a degree - and I expect they may be moving lots of guys on and off of PS and maybe even cycling the best onto the roster as there's guys on the 53 man roster who can still clear waivers. It's really a season long process in today's NFL to find guys that fit into your system and culture and be ready to plug holes effectively.

He and nearly all the fans here seem to understand just how important quality depth is - we had that during the dynasty years and to BB and the front office's credit, they did better on finding underrated depth than they often did in the higher priced free agents and top draft picks. We all know that "next man up" mentality and quality was really the difference maker as all teams suffer injuries.

So there's going to be half a season in which they're seeing what they've got among these new faces, but hopefully that quality depth rises to the top by mid season. The COULD get lucky on injuries and not need the depth to the same degree, but we know that's rare.

JSP - Appreciate you, but the commentary belongs in a different thread. This is only for noting the moves.
