will we see some Belichick-ean roster manipulation?

You said he would start. They have berrios, OBJ, gunner and others fighting it out for the slot role. Hollins would not be a starter.
I don't think I said he would start but he sure has contributed here and probably would contribute there.

If you don't think the Giants need depth at WR you need to tell that to their GM as they've now released Smith-Schuster too and the WR depth was thin even with him on the roster.

I literally said what team would he start for and you said the Giants.

Adams 1516 yards 14 TDs
Hollins 690 yards. 4 TDs
So, Hollins at 180 targets would produce 1380 yards and 8 TDs. Sounds good.
I doubt it is possible to find a WR in NFL history that had 1030 snaps and managed only 690 yards.
Number of snaps is meaningless on run plays or when Adams was the primary target. Perhaps Hollins made a block that sprung Jacobs towards his 1653 rush yards and12 TDs.

# of targets is more specific.

Keon Coleman 57 targets 556 yds 4 TDs
Calvin Austin 55 targets 372 yards 3 TDs
Jakobi Meyers 61 targets 483 yards 3 TDs
Xavier Hutchinson 57 targets 428 yards 3 TDs

The NFL is loaded with guys like Hollins.

Bill was masterful at finding ways to get 56-57 players on the 53 man roster.
do we see some cut and winks with some vets?
Landry to recallable IR?
Brown to recallable IR?
Pop or Hollins cut and brought back?

Belichikian.

Spikes was a second-round pick and Talib was a high-priced free agent, so I don’t think that’s what we’re talking about. The legendary Foxboro Flu meant “stashing” a borderline rookie for the future by putting him on IR. I can’t find any record of O’Connell mentioning it either.

This is what I mean. Sure, BB was a sneaky old bastard. But the myth of his roster trickery dwarfed the reality.

When BB hit stride a couple years or so into his tenure, he essentially pioneered the art of maximizing an NFL roster's "middle class" of versatile role-players. That is, spreading the wealth vs. having a few highly paid stars backed by lowly scrubs. He was a mastermind in that respect and it became the dynasty's foundation.

This illustrates your ignorance. Hollins didn’t get targets because he didn’t get open. If he got 180 targets they would have been throwing to a guy who isn’t open.

They both played 90+%. They played run and pass plays. You are just making up a maybe with no fact.

The real calculation that determines a WR true production is yards per route run. It eliminates all the other factors. You run 100 routes, what do you produce. Hollins is epically bad in that metric.

please step back and reassess.
come back to the discussion once you have a rudimentary understanding of statistics

Bill changed how the league thought about rosters and players, and the value of those players.
being a copy cat league, the league eventually followed the leader and most every team operated alike.
when the need to change how the team operated to get an advantage, Bill was either late to that understanding, or simply preferred not to do so.
some label this fact as "BB hate"...but I see it as the best and smartest eventually slowed down, or was starting to devote his time elsewhere, or perhaps simply did not care enough. seemingly with Bill, it was a combo of all 3

Dumbest statement of the week. Congratulations.
having a QB that can put the ball on a target mostly anywhere on the field, and having a target that can make contested catches repeatedly, mitigates the value of "getting open".
we saw Boutte, Hollins, HH, Hopper not really have the speed nor route tree to consistently "be open"...yet they were highly efficient and productive. we saw Williams as a 1 trick route runner all season, not being able to make contested catches, and having a season not nearly as efficient as the others.
Diggs seemingly was able to run routes and make contested catches.

Thanks for doubling down on your dumbest comment of the week and exceeding it. Revolutionary stuff, it’s not important for WRs to get open. Brilliant

I will take that as you know you are wrong and refuse to admit it

next time Boutte is open, call me

don't be embarrassed that you are focusing on the wrong numbers. it is no longer the 1990's.
poster Wozzy does the same thing much more often than you, and is doubly pig headed
I simply ask that you relook and try to understand

Again you dodge because you know you are wrong. Nothing you have said amounts to an argument or even says anything of substance

there is nothing to argue about
you correlating snap counts to production is silly
you not understanding an inaccurate QB produces inefficient production
"getting open" is meaningless when reviewing statistical efficiency

Now you want lessons?
was Hollins super efficient last season?
every relevant stat says he was
same with Boutte
yet neither were with Carr or Brissett
you think that is because Hollins and Boutte could "get open"?

you are so silly, you can't even see your silliness

You are right there is nothing in to argue about because you simply do not understand.
You are arguing that my passing offense success has nothing to do with the ability a WR to get open. You are arguing that the production of a receiver has nothing to do with how productive they are.
You are making up an assumption that every WR is the same and their production and numbers are solely a function if qb accuracy.

They traded a first for AJ Brown.

They signed Doubs to a big contract.

It’s funny how you twist and contort to tell us getting open doesn’t matter and efficiency stats matter more than actual production…. you know, receptions, yards, TD’s.

The team extended themselves to find two new starters… they knew they had to get better at the WR position than Boutte and Hollins.

Seems everyone knew it… but you.

Efficient? I am talking about production. If a receiver gets open once a game and has a 100% completion rate that receiver is holding back an offense.

If you think a WR doesn’t need to get open why pay any of them?

You should watch more football
