If Pop is your #6 WR, then you have a really nice WR room. He's no pro bowler, but he's solid depth.

I love the story behind Chism. I hope he develops. Just not ready to put him ahead of Pop. DeG is another good story with a bit more speed and height than Chism. Definately a PS candidate. It is a good problem to have.
As I stated WR always seems to have injury problems throughout the year. I would feel secure with wth AJ, Doubs, Pop, Boutte, Williams and Hollins. We also have a good backup in DeVito. Raridon coming on to help out Henry. So our passing game is solid. Can’t say we have been able to say that in a long time.

Best group of pass catchers we've had in a very long time.
Very deep WR room, and a better 1-2 punch than we've had for quite some time.
Both starting RBs are very good pass catchers.
And two capable receiving TEs assuming Raridon continues with his impressive play.
With Solid Oline play this offense is setup to be very very good. Very good last year, and quite a bit better on paper this year.

He has more size, but what he doesn't have is Chism's change of direction numbers.

No one has locked down the Welker/Jules slot position as of yet. I don't think both Pop and Chism can make this team if Boutte stays, which I hope he does. Pop truly has to earn his next contract with this team and I think he will be given every opportunity to do so. He really has a golden path if he can capitalize. But I don't know what that looks like because of the balls available with a stacked room. If Maye has 5,000 yards how do they get dispersed?

Thats 4700 and no Raridon or Pop. So how does Pop earn a new contract?

Injuries also happen so having Chism on the PS is the ideal. I have no idea how other teams view him. From what we have seen at camp so far, Chism has not unseated Pop. Both have had good camps, but I think Pop has the edge still.

Boutte’s role this season will be the same Kyle Williams last year. If everyone is healthy I don’t see him playing more than 30-35% of the snaps.

Chism will make the 53. McDaniels loves him. My guess is they will keep 6 WR. by all accounts Chism has been getting more reps with the 1st team offense than Kyle Williams. Williams seem to be the 7th guy right now.

AJB, Boutte, Doubs, and Hollins are for the most part contested catch receivers. AJB has the quick slant YAC part of his game as well. Hollins is a big part of the running game and needs to be on the field on some passing downs too so as not to have a tell.

I just don't see how all of these guys are going to be utilized together.

Anybody can line up anywhere, they can flex a FB out there… it doesn’t make it optimal for success.

AJ Brown is the best outside WR they have and one of the best in the league… that doesn’t make him good in the slot where they need someone to win quickly. That’s Douglas or Chism.

As I have repeated over and over again, "in most years a team's playoff hopes will rest on how good your "next guy up" works out. It might not be ideal for Boutte PERSONALLY, but it is best for the team that a guy who has proven he can be a legitimate NFL wide out can backup BOTH Brown and Doubs.

IMHO they SHOULD keep 5 WR's, but they probably will go with 6 plus at least 2 on the PS. Injuries will come, my friends, injuries will surely come. And not just at the WR position. Take a long look at the #3 OLinemen. The 4 RB's we really need, plus the FB. The backup QB, the 4th and 5th CB's, etc. Developing these backups on offense and 3-to-4-man rotations on defense are the key to the eventual success of this team. We have all seen how very good teams, ONE deep, have failed because of injuries during the long marathon that is an NFL season.

This is our Achilles Heel. We have big question marks on the quality of our keep backups, especially on the defensive side. Usually, it takes a few years to build up that quality depth. Our move up the NFL ladder was SHOCKINGLY quick. We did a good job shoring up our obvious weakness. I think we did an admirable job in the draft, especially picking a first rounder who is unlikely to make a big contribution right away, but will (we hope) long term. That is the kind of move smart perennial contenders do.

There’s no rule that says you can’t line up anywhere. It doesn’t make AJ Brown lightning quick.

There’s a reason small, super agile guys like Wes Welker exist and pile up a ton of catches. There’s a tool for every job.

I disagree. Boutte and KW are not the same receiver. The speed and field stretch is very different. If Boutte is on this team, Drake has extreme chemistry with him. It won't be 35%

Brown, Doubs, Boutte, Hollins, Pop, Chism, Williams. Williams is not getting cut in year 2. If we keep six one has to go either cut, trade, IR. Boutte and Pop are trade candidates. Pop and Chism are cut candidates.

We will see the trend in preseason. The bottom guy will play late into games. I will be at tonight's game and see who does what on snaps.

Hollins will get some snaps as a blocker
Douglas will get some on 3 down bunch formations
Williams will be a backup who will get some reps to develop

Brown Doubs Boutte have a much greater skillset than Diggs Boutte Hollins that we were successful with last year.

Kyle Williams was underthrown and ignored quite a bit. It was getting frustrating seeing him beat his guy and DeVito or Morton just didn't have the field vision to see him.

After seeing tonight, I will hold firm. I believe Pop is ahead of Chism, and Chism is #7.

The numbers I could find basically have Chism a quarter second faster on both the short shuttle and three-cone than any of the others in the top 7. Douglas's numbers are basically the same as AJ Brown's.

I have never had Chism higher than 7.
I think he’s improving, but not enough to move into the top 6.
Always assumed he would be destined for the PS if Boutte isn’t dealt.
Obv can’t see the separation of the WRs nearly as well in TV, especially when they aren’t thrown to so no camera coverage.
But what you did see of KW on TV he looked good, his separation was noticeable and woulda had a long TD if not underthrown.
The stop he made on his one completion was incredibly sudden, defender was left in the dust.

What you could see in TV KW looked very very good. Very fast and sudden. He provides an element none of our other WRs really have.
