Its time for a retractable roof stadium in NE

A good team should win in ideal playing conditions.
That’s the sort of thing that sounds nice but in the real world, when you have a razor thin difference between two teams, any small advantage could be the difference.

That's great for the broncos... Now show me that for the pats...
Pats are not far behind.
Show me the willingness of the state of Massachusetts to pony up funds for new digs
Good point. Leftist states/cities are broke, woke and mismanaged. Chicago brokeaxx will lose the Bears, KC Missouri brokeaxx clownshow lost the Chiefs. Maybe Mass will tax electric rates more or sell you solar panels that are mandated?
Show me any rumor that the pats are considering a new home...

There's nothing on the horizon as far as I can tell... Otherwise we would have heard something...
Its still early.

For all those who say they love sitting in 5 degree wether with 2 feet of snow on the ground and seeing a 3-0 game with fumbles everywhere just to prove how tough they are, I say its BS. For those who say they want to get soaked to the bone and see 3 passes in a game I call BS.

The truthers out there will tell you, lets have a retractable roof, so when its nice out in September and October the roof stays open. But in December and January, 72 degrees and a clear field to watch teh athletes at their best is what Pats fans deserve.

With a retractable domed stadium, maybe some day a SB would come to NE.
Its the 21st century and time to put the comfort of the fans who pay big $$$ first.

Let's not talk about home field advantage either.
How does winning a 3-0 game in mud or slush with the QB going 3-42 prove anything. A good team should win in ideal playing conditions.

However, I would not want to see one penny of public money used to pay for it. The owners should put up every last cent.
i want a new $2Billion dollar stadium built (probably because im old and dont want to sit in the cold anymore) and I dont want the city/state to pay any of it. lololololololol

Don't give up a late season advantage.

Weather was part of the game, an important aspect of game conditions, from the start. How a team or a player deals with weather challenges is a legit aspect of their abilities and a reflection of their character. Those with the backbone to deal with such challenges will tend to win the game, and should.

If you go to a game and feel chilly, wear a ****ing sweater, or grow a pair, or stay home.

Brady vs Manning playoff record
3-2
We won every game at home, and lost the two on the road.
Elements definitely were in play, and that’s an advantage I would never, ever want to cover with a roof.
Totally agree.

But it's gotta be a Natural Grass field, man.

Only three teams that played their home games in a domed stadium have won the Super Bowl. It is far better for teams to play outdoors, and play their home playoff games outdoors. No.

Bears are proposing a dome. Same with the Chiefs.

The new NFL fans dont want to tough it out in the cold and ice. Fingers too cold to text and not enough cell battery for selfies.
I don’t think it’s the fans, I think it’s the owners because a domed stadium in a cold weather city allows the owners to have events year round and they can make even more money.

After the new scoreboard, lighthouse, and New Balance center, we aint getting a new stadium or dome. I think southern end is due for the next update. I personally can't stand the stupid on field bar and yuppie club. There is just a ton of wasted space and now the video screen is too small. It needs to match the new one.

I also don't like the lighthouse and bell experience. The Vikings have this huge horn and we have this tiny bell. If you want a bell get a frikin huge awesome bell. Rather than clinking this tiny thing, have the special guest hit in with a sledge and the tone shakes the whole stadium. Mic it up so it causes everyone to feel it.

Foghorn

I give no credence to a Welsher, who reneged on a bet
Changing his screen name hoping we all would forget

Whatever you post I don’t give a damn
Especially about domed stadiums Sam I am

Thank you for clarifying that. That really clear us a lot of things.

Dunno man....on one hand we are the NEW ENGLAND Patriots....inclement weather is a part of our identity.

On the other hand, I went to the Pats v. Jaguars in '03.....I couldn't wait to get back to the car and crank up the heat.... I also went to a Pats v. Dolphins playoff game in the late 90s....that was a fun day with Todd Collins and Chris Slade picking off Marino...it was cold that day...but I had fun.

Watching a game in dome is not a bad thing....but I'd choose to watch a cold weather game on TV over a domed game though.

My initial reaction was to oppose a covered stadium, and further reflection only confirms that view. One wrinkle: as more and more teams go the covered arena route, fewer and fewer players and teams will have experience playing out in very adverse weather, making that advantage more valuable over time. Sometimes it is a legit advantage to be an outlier, and this is one of those times.

Have the retractable roof but play the games in the elements?

Open it up two hours before kickoff?

Expensive, yes.

Doable? Practical? Preferable?
