PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 14

Sounds like a very positive day of practice. I hope they don't sit everyone in the game.
I hope they do. Joint practices are about as controlled as a completive "game" could be. Coaches can control tackling, scenarios, and pacing which limits the injury risk. No need for anyone with a solidified spot on the depth chart to play on Thursday.

Karon Prunty in coverage

Brown and Doubs will be an excellent 1-2 punch. Then add in Pop in the slot, and the 1-2 punch of Hunter Henry and Eli Raridon at TE, and I think the Pats will have an offense that’s tough to shut down, even if a team stops the run.

I think we have something in Tommy Devito, I think he has a good grasp of this offense. I actually have faith we could win if he starts, if the worst case scenario happens. Probably our best backup QB in quite some time. Just seems so consistent.

Shoot this into my veins. So many good TE drafts that were either ignored, or we picked crappy TEs. I’ve been waiting for a Raridon type player for over 10 years.

Not saying he’s the next Gronk, but he’s the most promising TE we’ve drafted SINCE Gronk. Based on training camp so far of course, but he’s been our best rookie TE as far as production in camp in ages. We hear about something positive every practice.

Lomu loses a rep at LT

Bedard said Will Campbell looked good. I assume he watched practice and was correct.

Good thing McCarthy’s available..
I was so wrong on McCarthy, I thought he was gonna be good. That being said, I said back during the 2024 draft, he reminds me of Zach Wilson, but I meant their college days.

Second hand "Hot Takes" from someone whose only information comes from the clips on these threads, so you KNOW I know what I'm talking about and take my takes as facts.

Pretty much everyone BUT Boutte made some memorable play this morning and he's the guy who has been making the most "memorable plays" the other 13 days of camp. So, with the top 7 fighting it out for 6 positions and 3 good UDFA's prospects fighting for probably 2 PS positions, I'd say our WR situation for this season looks pretty good. Dare I say the WR room is the best position group we have. How many times over the last 26 years could we have said that.

Prounty - (I almost laugh every time I say that name out loud) continues to be my biggest and happiest surprise this season. Even when he loses, he rarely is uncompetitive and looks like a steal in the late 5th, instead of someone we over drafted.

The lack of run game success could be viewed as a possible issue, especially since we all considered it a potential strength of the team before camp is understandable. But you really can only practice and see where you are in the run game during the actual preseason games, where you don't play your starters or rarely play them. Hard to simulate cut back lanes and blocking angles when you aren't going fully live in practice, even the joint practices don't give you a good simulation of the run game, The only way, these days, is through live game action. So the first time we will really get a chance to see where our run game is, will be Thursday, when none of the starters will be playing. Ahhh! the frustrations of the modern pre season. The reality is that the first chance we will have to know where our run game is at will be against the Seahawks.

The fact is, September and the first 3 or 4 games have become an enhanced preseason and although we will make instant impressions all through that month, none of them will matter until October anyway. So, if we start out 3-0 or 0-3 we won't get a true vision of our team until game 4 when all the rust is removed and teams show us who they really are
