I'm happy with the upgrade vs what they had no doubt. What they gave up was criminal though. They traded those guys for 3 months. Period. Next year might not happen and then he is free agent.

I would have told them you get 2 prospects and it starts with the 5th guy and goes from there. If they say no, so be it. You can never have enough pitching in the pipeline. In fact even on deadline day it was said that it was a buyers market for pitchers. Then Breslow tossed out 2 pitchers for him.

I liken it to you having 10K in a bank account and you know something is worth only 3 but they ask for the full 10 and you say..no problem. That would never happen. This should never have happened either.

He's under contract for one more season.

That's not accurate. For one thing, he's in his fifth season, not his fourth and the three seasons he was healthy, he had decent power for a catcher not named Bench. I get that you think they should never give away any of their prospect binkies until after they bust, but they needed a major league catcher.

I don't get to watch MLB live so I'm left with YT highlights every morning when I get up without knowing the score beforehand. What was a thoroughly depressing experience in the spring has turned into a joy in the summer. I keep expecting the regression but maybe, just maybe, the summer Red Sox might just be the real Red Sox. Easy to say after a big bat day but it sure is nice to wake up to a 6 run first inning.

I was obviously replying to your post about his 3 alleged"cough" "cough" all-star seasons. He sucked in 2 of them.
Yes we needed upgrade at catcher. But Breslow got hosed. Sox got hosed. Fans got hosed. Players got hosed.
I'd love to be opposite you in any type of deal, I would own everything you have. Which probably ain't much considering what you think comprises a good deal.

Thats a foolish statement. Yes he is under contract sure by the letter of the law. However with a lockout looming that contract year means next to nothing.
