We have a thread about this right now. I don't think you get much of a discount if you extend now. If you do then maybe. If not let him test the market. I'd like him back. But it needs to be at a fair deal for both sides.

This board has been downplaying his frustrations as a pass rusher dating back to his rookie season. 3 sacks in the last 21 games after being paid for his lone fluke season is outright pathetic. AVT clearly is stonewalling him which is pissing him off. That's the only explanation for what he did. In fact, the last thing I want to hear is that AVT is struggling in pass protection against this guy who was doing the waltz all season with G's. That would be a bad sign for the OL.

For the 2nd straight season, he's nowhere to be found on the top 10 list voted by execs, scouts and coaches and not even a mention among 20 other players. You can forget about the NFL's top 100 voted by players - he's not even in the universe. He's by far the most overrated Pats player in very long time.

It is overrated here. His production has not matched his contract and excuses have been allowed. But he isn't bad. Just not the guy we'd hoped he be and he got paid on hope coming off his best year assuming he was that going forward, and he has not been.

he just has like this inferiority complex to his own organization & wants the CUSTOMER to see himself as RELEVANT to the process; when he really isn’t. Moss is the guy I would lik to see show up. Receivers would be in awe, and they would hang on every word.

CB Ward signs 2 years $62m deal with $52m guaranteed.
Gonzo is inarguably the better player, and is playing on a 2 year $23m deal now that his 5th year is picked up.
Gonzo would be foolish to play under that deal.
Gonzo is foolish to be practicing under that deal.
If he were to blow out his knee, in practice, he most likely leaves $75m + on the table.

- Barring injury, it would be surprising if the Patriots O-Line to start the season wasn't LT Will Campbell, LG Alijah Vera-Tucker, C Jared Wilson, RG Mike Onwenu, and RT Morgan Moses. First-rounder Caleb Lomu appears to be on the Nate Solder rookie plan, where he's the top swing tackle and eligible tackle in six OL packages.
- Campbell and Lomu both fared well in the first 1-on-1 period of camp in shells on Tuesday. Campbell won his reps against Dre'Mont Jones and Bradyn Swinson, with the latter coming on a quick set/two-hand punch that shut Swinson down quickly — it was good to see Campbell set aggressively rather than vertical setting. Lomu was 3-0-1 with two reps each at left and right tackle, with wins over Elijah Ponder and Jones. LG Alijah Vera-Tucker also looked outstanding in his two reps – advantage O-Line in round one of 1-on-1s.
- Second-year pro Marcus Bryant and sixth-year pro James Hudson are in an early camp battle to be the fourth OT, with rookie Dametrious Crownover still taking third-team reps. He lost both one on ones and was ranked the #1 down of 3 up 3 down for the practice by Bedard

Still repping as the 2nd team left tackle… if we’re judging from the hardly relevant barometer.

Wait for hitting and real competition. This isn’t real football.

If we lost Maye for the season, yeah obviously. But if he misses a game or two here and there, having a chance at actually winning those games can make the difference in making the playoffs or, at the very least, seeding.

Thank you!! We heard this refrain in the Brady days too, “the #2 QB doesn’t matter because we’re not going anywhere without him.” As if the only options are your #1 playing every game or not at all.

Most injuries are NOT season ending, and it definitely matters who’s holding down the fort.
