PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 3

Apparently he's showing a better understanding how Josh likes to use the slot WR....as opposed to running go routes from the slot. We'll see.

Yeah.. But is he still tripping over the yard lines on the field? Catching the ball is important. Being able to run more than 3 steps before you trip over yourself is just as important.

Patriots.com updated the depth chart...which usually happens around this time of year.

- Brown and Boutte starting on the outside with Doubs inside
- Jones and Ponder starting at Edge
- Westover ahead of Raridon....for now
- Larison ahead of Miller
- Hudson ahead of Bryant

When I look at this and I see that Douglas and Chism are behind Doubs and with the knowledge that Brown, Boutte and Hollins take slot reps, I don't see them making the team. Unless the team goes with just 2 TEs and has Hollins the defacto #3TE.

I look at the fact that Douglas brings next to nothing on Special Teams. Chism is not a real returner. He's a "Hands-team" guy that the team resorted to because they had 5 RBs on the IR.

My top 5 WR: Brown, Doubs, Boutte, Williams, Hollins.

I think they’ll keep six. So I’m taking the top two at each position:
Brown and Hollins
Doubs and Douglas
Boutte and Williams.

If it’s just five Pop goes the bubble.

Interesting that Wallace is getting 2nd team RG snaps. It's going to be interesting to see if Rupcich, who can play OG and OT, gets the nod over Wallace or if they place Rupcich on the PS again since they can be fairly confident of moving him there since he's spent so much time there without other teams trying to poach him.

It could be as simple as Vrabel is giving the initial nod to players who were here last year.

Kyle Williams WR7? Yikes
I just read that before coming over. He got kudos for his off-season participation yesterday. Not sure what it is but I think he may be a dull bulb type of player. McDaniels offense is not picked up easily by some players (Ochstinko).
Hope I’m wrong because he has unteachable speed. Chism is not beating him out. Boutte is.

It is that simple, players that were here, starting, or vets that have a ton of experience as starters.

The team depth chart on Patriots.com doesn’t mean anything right now. It will change weekly and will keep changing until they cut down to 53… and even then it will likely be different from what you see week 1.

Nobody earned or lost a job in non padded practice on day three in July. The notion is silly.

He reminds me of Bethel Johnson who gives you a couple big plays per season. If he doesn't make noise this season, he's most likely never going to.

I am hoping for the best. But I agree. You just can’t have speed and hands. You have to have some smarts on reading a defense. I hate to say this but with the lack of balls going his way and possibly being 7th on the pecking order their is reason to be concerned, getting an off-season award is great but you have to get open and earn Drakes trust

Man his left knee must be toast.

Or at least the team thinks it is.

Wonder if he can get third-party insurance that covers it?
Something fishy is going on. It could be that he has a questionable knee. It could also be the team is not to happy with the player where he may have not disclosed information about his knee needing a procedure and the Patriots are making him pay for it.

It is too early to judge, but if in a week Bryant is still taking reps as backup LT, I think it will mean something.

Last year Wilson was taking first team reps from the first day, and it was significant. Ponder was also getting a lot of play during camp as well.

Johnson had terrible hands.
I haven't seen that from KW.
Johnson had 4 tds in 3 years on 39 catches as a Pat, 15.7 yds avg.
KW had 3 TDs on 10 catches and a 21 yard average as a rookie.
I'm not worried at all about what WR was playing with who on the second or third non padded practice.
KW has after the catch ability no one else does on the roster.
I can't imagine a world where KW isn't a big piece moving forward.

Yeah. We will. but that could be them trying to Showcase him to move him for something rather than just cutting him.

I have a hard time seeing Douglas or Chism making the roster unless they use Hollins as a Hybrid TE.
I think you hit the nail on the head with Hollins being a hybrid TE. Has good blocking skill, hands height and smarts

There will be 6. You can take that to the bank.

A week... ehhh.

It will mean more midway though preseason football and into joint practices. That's where the depth chart will form. There will be intense competition from now until then, competition will sort it out.

He made a couple of big plays in his rookie year. Let’s see what he does in his second year r before writing him off in the first week of camp.

Last season, I noticed that Williams turned the wrong way on a few targets that were not completed. Williams fault 100%, but as you state, he was in his 1st year and year 2 should begin to show dividends.

Of course it will mean more the longer it goes.

But if Bryant gets all the second team reps for 7-8 practices and they even move him into the first team for a few, that will give us an indication the direction the team wants to head.

I had Bryant on my depth chart as the chief backup, he’s the biggest, strongest most talented tackle besides the two young guys… it made sense, even if some had written him off because last year was a red shirt year.

They want to go with the younger players by default.

Hudson can probably do the job, but he seems like a career journey player.

It would not surprise if Hollins sees reps in that 2nd or 3rd TE slot, allowing them to also keep another WR
I also saw that WIlliams is behind most of the others, and has a tall climb up. Do they keep him based on potential? or are WR's like him always there in the 3rd and 4th rd?
same with Chism. it seems every season since Bill came into town, there has been a guy like Chism brought in with later round picks or as undrafted free agents, and show some. but at the end of the day, their upside is somewhat limited, and guys like that are always around and available.
