QB rankings according to coaches, executives and scouts

And he wasn't great the year before that. He's regressed each of the last two seasons.

But if people want to play prisoners of the moment, that's their choice I guess.

The people comparing him to Brady as some sort of longevity defense, when they play the position completely differently, is kind of mind-boggling, but again, expected.
What do u mean by prisoner of the moment?
The whole team has regressed.
Look, I don't cheer for Mahomes, and I hope he falls off a cliff, but I don't see it.
Some think his past couple of years are a sign of things to come and that he will continue down this slope.
I do not. Not because I like him. Not because I want him to succeed.
But he's 30 years old, he has lots of good football left (assuming full recovery).
I am pretty confident the Chiefs will re-tool and have more runs before Kermit retires.
If I had to bet if he will/won't ever win another SB, I'm betting he does.
I could be wrong, and as always, I will gladly admit it should he fail to capture another Lombardi.

Excellent post; Mahomes is the most successful QB after Tom Brady in our era. But gets no respect from certain Pats fans. When He wins another Championship you'll hear it's because of his Defense or the Refs. I've Never heard of a successful QB turning 31 being in the same sentence as Done or Washed. But that's Tommy takes for you...one who takes pleasure in hoping successful players they don't like fail.

Very difficult to understand how anyone can think Herbert is even ‘good’ let alone better than the runner up to both the mvp & SB…

L Jackson has also been a choke artist. Even Allen hasn’t been able to make the SB despite often having talent around him (likely more talent than Drake last season)…

It amuses me that this fanbase is writing Mahomes post-mortem after a mid-career period of decline during a roster transition.

Certainly Brady never looked bad in, say, 2006 or 2013, or late 2015 when the entire offense seemed to be on IR.

Don't be shocked when he's an MVP candidate again in 2027.

I think Mahomes is going to be a top QB for a while, but I tend to think his absolute best years may be behind him. The difference between Mahomes and Brady is Brady's game did not rely on athleticism like Mahomes' does. Mahomes will be 31 at the start of the season and coming off a major knee injury.

Mahomes is going to have to revise his game as he grows older. I don't know if he can maintain elite status without his ability to run outside the pocket and evade rushers while making off platform throws like he has during his career. He certainly has the talent to be a top pocket passer in the league, but that isn't what makes his game so special.

But this assessment goes to a lot of the top QBs in this league now. I don't know if Jackson or Allen are going to be elite well into their 30s. Both are already becoming more injury prone. And Maye will also have that issue, but to a lesser extent since he doesn't rely on his physical abilities outside the pocket as much.

I don't like this list in general. Jalen Hurts at #3? It seems this is a make or break year with the Eagles. There is a chance the Eagles move on from him after this season.

I still don't buy into Trevor Lawrence. All the talk around the league about Drake Maye's schedule, but no one is talking about how easy the Jags had it during their run at the end of the season when Lawrence finally after five years looked close to what all his pre-draft hype was about. After their bye, they had the Raiders, Texans (Lawrence played like crap), Chargers (he played like crap), Cards, Titans twice, Jets, Colts twice, and Broncos and then the Bills in the playoffs (Lawrence was inconsistent).

I think it is crazy that Cam Ward was only an honorable mention. He may not have done a lot last year but he looked pretty good considering the talent around him.

Caleb Williams should be higher.

I would have Jayden Daniels lower only because he is such an injury concern.

Literally this.

It's hilarious, I'm defending Mahomes' career in one thread, saying that what he's already accomplished puts him in the top-5 all-time, while saying he's regressed over the last two years, because he never adapted his playing style.

Both can be and are true.

Running QBs don't have a post-30 success act. They just don't. And you're correct, the same thing will happen with Maye as well if he doesn't adapt. He's at least young enough to start trying. And I do think Jackson has attempted, at least, to become more pocket-oriented that he used to be, time will tell if he'll fully adapt or not.

It's the 'he was good before, and he'll be good forever because Brady' argument that I see from some people here that I just don't understand. Like they played the position the exact same way. Apparently every QB who was ever good will play into their 40s with absolutely no drop-off.

Elway, Favre, Rodgers, even Matt Stafford changed their playing styles and became more pocket-oriented, and that's why they had success into their 30s.

To the Mahomes is washed up Pats haters. Not many moons ago the Great BB who You all have a statue erected of called Mahomes one of the Elite QB's. My my how to mighty have fallen according to some of you.

1. There is no statue of BB, thats for Brady.
2. When BB said it, it was true...today not so much.

Facts arent your strength, are they?!

You really classify Mahomes and his 21 rushing yards/game through his career a running QB?

Lamar 56 yds/game, yes
Mahomes 21/game…that’s a stretch.

Sure Mahomes is really good scrambling in, or just outside the pocket, but many QBs have this skill.

It’s not like he’s Josh Allen and running downfield and taking on defenders. Do you think Mahomes will really regress so much in his legs he won’t be able to scramble?

Mahomes will do what he needs to do to win, and my guess is it will carry on for many more years.

Hard to disagree with any of that.

At least he got #1 right

Maye still have a lot to prove in the playoffs...a healthy AJB and R Doubs should rectify that.

It definitely should, and props to the fo for supporting him! If he has another bad postseason thats a bit of a concern to me but at the time im sky high on the kid

Then the league will have to ratchet-up the cheating on his behalf even more blatantly as Kermit's body continues to deteriorate...
