Celtics 2026-2027 Discussion

Veesaar, Reed or Cenac would be ok with me.
Carr is best player, if he’s still there, but not sure Brad takes him.
Good call on Cenac. I didn't know enough about him before but he is sounding like a nice blend between "need" and "best player available"

I've seen some say that he doesn't go to the basket hard enough though... I think that's more a question of him being so raw and just doing what he's comfortable with, but clearly he was deemed better than Veesaar, who, while is probably more NBA ready than Cenac, clearly slid quite a bit

I know some still wanted the Celtics to take him at #40 even with Cenac filling that draft slot - but I think if anyone thinks we're getting an NBA-Ready Center who can score and muscle their way around the paint at #27, they're kidding themselves.

Even Veesaar needs more time to develop - but I think we need to accept that Cenac won't be a contributor this year, being as raw as he is. I'd love for him to prove us wrong, but once he's bulked up and taught up we can see how his natural skills transform.

He's G-League for now which means they'll have to address Center - sadly, by trading Brown though I'm still pulling for them to keep him

Love White as well but I'd absolutely trade him for an effective center who can score in the paint

Maybe this is kinda anti-free market, but it’s not like the NBA doesn’t already regulate too much stuff with teams. So here’s what I think. The NBA should just limit how far our teams can trade their first round picks into the future. The league is really stupid right now with teams trading draft picks that are like 6, 7, 8 years away from now. Almost certainly the general manager will not be around for that long and in many cases, the owner won’t be either. It’s really dumb that you’re following a team that doesn’t have a first round pick for like four years because they traded for some guy nine years ago, who you barely remember. This is just a symptom of the total idiocy and dysfunction of Adam Silver and his horrible leadership. The NBA is by far the worst run league of the four major sports.

Nothing anti-free market about it: the NFL already has had such restrictions in place for who knows how long... Rightfully so, too.

I still would've taken Veesaar. We actually Need some redundancies at the 4-5 positions,

So would I.

The rumor mill about trading Brown to the Pistons for Jalen Duren is intriguing in that we'd be getting a 22-year-old center who's already a consistent double-double guy, averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds - and is likely to only get better.

It'd be a sign and trade apparently but I don't quite see how his 5 year $287 million contract fits our below the luxury tax cap for this one more year - but maybe it's a situation where the first year of the contract comes in the same as what Brown's is so he fits now.

I heard the Cs are looking for 4 1st round picks in return for Brown - which is asking a lot, and the Pistons may insist that this is just one for one trade with Duren on a bigger contract than Brown, plus the upside of having a young center for a dynasty attempt.

I would think that Duren plus a 1st rounder plus a 1st round swap would be reasonable as Brown could well be the player who puts Detroit over the top - and they won't be drafting high anyways.

I hope all of these "trade Jaylen Brown" scenarios are just BS because I don't think breaking up the Js is a good move. Yes, they need a big man, but they also need Brown's scoring and defense, which is often overlooked when talking about him.

Admittedly,, I didn’t really follow the NBA that closely last season, but in the playoffs this guy Duren played like **** and looked like his confidence was destroyed. I think if the Celtics aren’t getting someone like Giannis in exchange for Brown, I’d rather just get a haul of draft picks. I just don’t see them being like one All-Star player away from where they want to be. Especially if said player is going to need a max contract then they’re basically just swapping out Brown for at best a slight upgrade in terms of fit and less overlap.

Subtracting Brown and adding someone like Duren, Gobert or Sabonis, I don’t see that as a championship move. With Giannis again there was potential for huge upside, though not assured… with these other trades, I just see them as slightly better.

Of course, if they just feel that at this point all is lost with Brown and his future then that’s a different story.

OT: I probably made as many attempts at this as I do posts on this board.

That's a potent team. No current NBA team could hang with that.
Wilt, Bird and McAdoo are 3 of the greatest offensive players all time . W/o even thinking a out it, theyre all top 7.
And the size- front court is 7'2", 6'11" and 6'9".
Bird and McAdoo would absolutely destroy the nba today.
McAdoo with the Buffalo Braves( now the LA Clippers), was a lot of fun to watch. One of the 2 greatest offenses in league history-the other being the Denver Nuggets of Issel, English et al.
Up and down the court almost always shooting with no more than 10sec off the clock.
150 pts a night was nothing for these dudes.
This was before 3 pt shots. Both teams had multiple great long range shooters they'd put up 200pts today. But problem for both is they played no D. So they might give up 200.
But entertaining as hell.

Those 80s Nuggets teams under Doug Moe were crazy.

Dan Issel. Marvel. Missed 20 games in 9 NBA years at the age of 28-36 (was in the ABA for 6 years - missed 4 games). 6'9" - Played PF (4 yrs) & C. Soft not in his dictionary.
