I don't love having to rely on a rookie that isn't projected to make an impact.
example: Raridon. he is a project. perhaps he will be a contributor immediately. but chances are, he will not. he was the #95 pick. Asiasi was the #91 pick. Keene was the #101 pick. I am not saying it will be the same, but Henry is not playing wire to wire every game, even if healthy.
Hooper gave us over 500 snaps on offense last season. he also caught 77% of his 26 targets. he had 13 1st downs and 2 TD's.
can Raridon come close to that?
Would Dippre, Tanner and Raridon combined get anywhere close to that?

How high a pick are you willing to give to another team for their #3 TE?

I suspect that we kept Dippre on the roster for exactly this situation. But sure, we might sign someone else's #4 after the final cuts.

Vannett and Fitzpatrick (returning from injury) are available free agents that fill the need, and would not cost a ton.
perhaps Dissly too.

I know some believe PFF is toilet paper, but Vannett graded out elite as both a run and pass blocker

We need a backup C/G, and ILB an EDGE rusher. If Landry is healthy, EDGE is the lowest priority of the three. If he is not, it is the highest proity.

Ben Brown has proven to be a pretty solid backup at both C and G.

This is more interesting than it looks on the surface. I mean we don't really have a good idea of what we have there as far as Dippre, Riordin, and the Indiana kid goes.

First, you have to decide exactly what you are looking for in your TE. Smith gave us what we were looking for in a blocking TE who looked like he might be better as a receiver than we expected, but that's for next year. Dippre is certainly big and fast enough, but we really don't know how well he can block OR catch. Same goes for Riordin. Fast enough and tall enough to have an excellent down field threat, but at 250 he might be a little small to be an inline blocker.

But here I am calling a guy who is 250lbs "small". 60 years ago, he'd have been big enough to be a Guard. Lets decide what kind of skill set we are looking for before we set out to look for him first. TE means a lot of things these days. Gronk was truly exceptional at both skills and was a real asset to the run game. Now you are looking for your TE's to be receivers and if he doesn't totally suck at blocking, he can be an all pro.

Personally, I thought Pharoh did a good job when he was here, but that was over 2 years ago and who knows what he is right now. There hopefully is some out there who has more potential upside

As I said, when Jonnu was here last time it was a ****show. BB was losing his marbles, Mac & Zappe were in a junior high spat, Henry was more mature and smarter in that system, so he made Jonnu an after thought.
This is SOOO different. Vrabel gets guys to buy in. JMD has loosened up. Maye is 10x better than Mac. Jonnu would be able to do what he does best - be a playmaking / Flex TE. And provide much needed vet production next to Henry - who can't carry the load all year again... let alone in case of injury. And it'd give Eli a chance to ease into it.

Oh you poor, poor baby. A woman verbally assaulted you and you need therapy to recover. But here is the thing...YOU ARE A LIAR. You refuse to acknowledge what was actually said. My point during the draft was that we had Henry, Hill and his new contract, Gilliam and his new contract, Westover, and Dippre. There was only room at that time for 1 TE pick. Your idiotic claim was that the Pats would pick 2. I told you it was not going to happen, and I was right. I WAS RIGHT.

The discussion was never about if the Pats should pick a second TE in the draft. It was weather or not if they would, and I told you they would NOT and why. You were too stupid to get it.

There were no TEs after the 3rd round that were valuable enough to use a pick on with out positions of need. Hill went down after the draft. He is a blocker. Westover, Dippre, and Tanner Arkin are also blockers. Your idiocy would have had us spending a 4th rounder on yet another blocking TE??? Seriously? Here are the TEs picked after Reardon:

The one fun pick would have been Joly, but he is undersized and cannot block. Not a single one of these guys helps our roster no matter how big on a tantrum you throw.

What the Pats did was waited until the daft was over and signed blocking depth in Tanner Arkin, who is 6' 4", 265 lbs and a blocking machine. He will need to develop and beat out Dippre. So no, your draft idiocy still makes no sense.

I actually feel like Vrabel's going to look.in house. CJ Dippre is on the roster at TE and still have Westover for depth at TE.. the injury to Hill while unfortunate. Is a good thing in a sense for Raridon the Rookie will be pressed into the pros quickly and will be a factor for us. Still have a solid and reliable veteran In Henry

The discussion was not about being vehemently against it. It was about whether the Pats would double dip after the Raridon pick, to which I correctly claimed that they would not do it. It did not make sense at the time. And there were many reasons for it when that convo was running during the draft. We had just signed Gilliam and Hill to contracts. Hunter is not getting cut no matter what fools suggest it, and Raridon was the 3rd round pick. There was a huge run of TE's in round 2 leaving only trash in round 4. There was nothing of value to pick that would help this team.

Hill went down. No one could have predicted that. He is not a receiving TE. He is a blocker. We have Dippre and then grabbed Arkin after the draft. Both those guys were good college blockers. The fools claiming we needed to double dip after the Raridon pick were clueless about who was available to pick. The remaining TE's stunk. The only fun pick would have been Joly as an H back, but he is undersized and cannot block. It would have been a waste. Arkin is a sold UDFA signing who will challenge Dippre.

If these two and Westover cannot excel, then bring in a guy like Will Dissly for a look during camp.
