Brown - we've had nobody in his class since Moss which was 17 years ago
Doubs - talented receiver, 6'2 210 700 yards/yr, rz threat, plays any position
Williams - 21 ypc as a rookie, several spectacular long TD's, very promising
Boutte - was our #1 last year, only 23, probably traded but if not he's now probably #4
Hollins - big, reliable, blocks
Pop - a very good 5th/6th receiver. Chism & Dixon as depth.

Brady left after 2019 cause the WR cupboard was bare then, and has been since. In the prior decade our only standouts were the small slot guys Welker-JE-DA, with a few flashes like Lloyd & LaFell.

Aside from '07 (Moss-Stallworth-Welker) I'm thinking this could be our best WR corps ever. I did like the early 2000's group of Troy-Patten-Givens, with Deion emerging in 2003. The '78 team had had Stanley Morgan & Harold Jackson.

Since 2017. Cooks, Edelman, Hogan, Amendola was a pretty solid group.

2026 is not even close to the best ever. 1996-1999 were better by far.

AJB is Leagues above everybody else in this current group. '07 Tops this Group by far Moss was Moss - Welker was an Elite Slot and Stallworth was a Very Good X who's an afterthought after the First two options. We need to get a reliable Slot among this 26 group to start the comparisons.

On paper, sure. Until Brown and Doubs play at least a season on this team, I withhold true judgement.

Moss's talent level was unreal. One of the best WRs since Jerry. As good as he's been, AJ Brown is nooooooowhere near Randy Moss. Moss is the only player I'd consider taking over Rice. I'd probably still go for Rice based on his intensity and route running. Anyway... Brown does not make me pause in the debate between him and Rice

That's no real knock on Brown, btw. It's just a testament to how talented Moss was.

The Cult meeting comes to order.

I kind of forgot about the late 90's cause they regressed each year, but Glenn-Jefferson-Brisby was a good receiving corps.

We haven't seen our current group in action yet, so it's projecting. But if Brown is among the top 3 WR's the Pats have ever had, and you pair him with a pretty dominant Doubs in his prime at 26, and if Williams ascends to be a Donte Stallworth type (which is what I see), and with excellent depth below those 3, then we've got a group that competes with just about any in Pats history.

How do you rate Doubs though? I think he's flying under the radar. Who in the past 10 years (JE aside) was better than Doubs is? My main point is we suddenly have 2 proven studs.

I wouldn't call Romeo Doubs a Stud he hasn't hit the 800yds plateau year yet. Saying he's a Stud is Reaching. I hope they keep K Boutte you'll see what I mean; all having good health of course.

Also here's a Fact Doubs is not better than Jakobi Meyers. That said Doubs bar is probably J Meyers.

am I reading it correctly that Boutte is an after thought with 551 yards on 46 targets, but Doubs is a stud with 724 yards on 85 targets?

Yeah I responded to him: overrating players because we signed them is contagious around here.

I'm going on record and say if we keep Boutte he'll have a better year than Doubs. I think we overpaid for Doubs he was not my first or Second choice. But it is what it is.

1986
Morgan had 84 receptions, 1491 yds, 18 YPC
Fryar had 43 receptions, 737 yds, 17 YPC

In terms of pure talent, this tandem is in a class only matched by Moss and Welker.
