Boutte available for trade?

You’re right, Boutte is actually a 1400 yard receiver… Drake Maye has been holding him back.
stop with "yards"
yards are predicated on targets. Boutte didn't get enough. neither did Hollins.
look at what they did with those targets. first downs. yards. TD's. Boutte was extremely productive when he was thrown to.

The best WR’s create offense… this isn’t hard.

Putting yards aside, the real question is do you want Boutte to have more targets? This was the problem when Meyers was in NE. You do not want to run an offense through him. This was also the case with Edelman and White in 2019. Both dominated in targets, but drives stalled a ton that season. Those aren't guys you run your offense through - they were complementary pieces to Gronk and a better supporting cast like they had in 2016.

SF had the same issue with Jennings in 2024 when Aiyuk went out with injury. He had a career year, but their offense was worse and Jennings turtled once the spotlight was now on him in crunch time. Same thing in 2025 where they went into desperation mode targeting McCraffrey and Jennings by default. Defenses shut that down when it mattered.

Bills are going through the same dilemma right now. Shakira was the 3rd to 4th most target player and averaging 15-16 yards per reception his 1st two seasons. His average has plummeted since Diggs left. He's not a guy you run an offense though. Bean was in denial for a few years, but is now feeling the pressure and just traded for DJ Moore.

Back to Boutte. All he's shown is circus catches and be a last resort type receiver for Maye. We are also assuming Maye is going to continue to put the ball where it needs to be on such low % throws. If he doesn't, Boutte is worthless. He also hasn't shown much in the short to intermediate routes. Once he catches the ball, he's immediately tackled. That's the problem I have with him. He has his place on the team, but hasn't proven yet to warrant a significant amount of more targets.

So if Tom Brady peppered N’Keal Harry and Chad Jackson with targets he would have been successful.

It was Tom’s fault.

See how dumb that sounds?
Yikes that’s a bad take. Harry’s career catch percentage with the Patriots is 55. Boutte’s is 65 with 72 in 2025. So the answer is…Negative

Boutte moves the chains (first downs)
Boutte scores TD's
Doubs and Boutte together
Brown, Doubs, Boutte together

Take away 60 of Mayes running plays. Take away 15-20 of Henry's targets
thats 75-80 additional targets available for the WR's
put the ball into the WR's hands

Doubs did have that 4th year, which Boutte does not have
Doubs was also a free agent
Boutte is currently under contract
All would affect the offer made
Yes.. I mentioned David givens where he and Boutte have alot of similarities.
Both 6&7th rounders.. had questions about character, ect as a rookie.. worked hard matured and flourished with thier QBs.. givens fulfilled his rookie deal & saw he wasn't going to get paid here... went to Tennessee.. Boutte wants a new deal and hasn't surpassed 500 plus yards.. givens had 800 plus one season and we ran the ball then.. Boutte needs realistically another season of production in order to really secure a decent contract.

He just needed more targets.

I’d compare it to the Malcolm Butler situation, they paid Doubs the contract Boutte clearly thinks he deserves. But Doubs has been a better more productive player so he was a better option to pay. Gilmore/Butler… different but shades of similarity.
Agreed. As in Butler if you remember his back story..he was working in a Popeyes and BB sent a scout down to Alabama give him a tryout and invited to camp. He took off and ended up being a pro bowl player. Sometime guys worry more about the meal they think they can get as opposed to eating what is on your plate first. Doubs is an upgrade anyway you slice it. The WR position now heading into June first stands to be as talented as it been since 2007.

This. And imagine the view Vrabel has seeing all of this. We all like K Boutte but we mustn't act like he's been a 800-900 yard guy for the last 3 seasons.. hes young and still developing as a player. I believe seriously he needs another season of production to truly see a deal. He should hope when/if he's dealt he doesn't go to Arizona with old friend Brissett!
