Boutte available for trade?

If the team thinks that the cupboard will be so bare after this season, they would be extending Boutte. I believe extensions have probably been discussed but the parties couldn't come to a deal. I'm fine with us keeping a cheap backup for the season. But make no mistake, barring injuries Boutte will not get many reps.

If Boutte stays, I believe that almost all the reps will go to Brown, Doubs, Henry, Hollins, Henderson and Stevenson.

Josh will then decide who will get the rest of receiver reps. Williams may not get many reps, but he will get some. After that, there just aren't many reps left for WR's and TE's. #7 targets usually don't get many reps.

Perhaps Douglas as a backup slot receiver (after Doubs) is more valuable than anything that Boutte can do.
I'm thinking similarly to what Zuma mentioned regarding injuries we saw it last season with Boutte and Hollins they both were missed when they went out with injuries. Also Doubs also does have a history with injuries as well. I also don't think Vrabel's just got to give Boutte away for nothing. Guy has been productive with the opportunities he had since a rookie.

The three games Boutte was absent were top seven in the highest pass totals on the season. One of those games was Drake Maye’s highest QB rating all season, he threw 5 TD’s… Williams and Chism filled in fine.

Are we sure Boutte was missed?

It appeared as if he was seemingly no one could consistently get open. Down field...remember things didn't change until Josh then had diggs operating out the slot after Vrabel was showing displeasure..

Nah, Diggs and Chism both ripped off 30 yard receptions in one game, Rhamondre and Henry had 20+ yarders in the same game… one game.

In the Tampa game Boutte missed Kyle Williams ripped off a 72 yard TD, Hollins had a 54 yarder and Douglas had a 26 yarder… one game.

In the third game Boutte missed, four different receivers ripped off 20+ yard receptions.

I don’t know where the notion that they struggled to pass or pass deep came from. These were some of the highest pass totals on the season.

If you remember wozzy the first 2 games it was an adjustment.. now in saying this yes, of course josh altered things and moved guys around but I'd say the first 2 games even with the information you mentioned there was still a lack of X plays that Boutte routinely was providing prior to him getting hurt. Buy yes the offense moved diggs inside and he became a huge factor..

They thrived without him.

Kyle Williams is the probably future at one outside spot, AJ Brown will get max snaps at the other, Doubs will probably play the most in the slot but with his contract he isn’t leaving the field. They brought in some uber talented rookie WR’s.

I like Boutte, he’s a good story… but he’s nothing special.

Ok. Well we will have AJ next week.. so it bares watching what will actually happen. Do you think Boutte will be traded?

Very true. In a strange way why does it feel like Boutte could very well still be part of this team come week 1.. I've started to think more about the very facts you just posted. Hollins is injury prone. Chism is still unproven.. pop shows us here and there but not really a long term player..
Williams, Brown, and Doubs will be the top 3. The #4 does not play much no matter who it is. Douglas can be used in special circumstances due to his unique athleticism. If Williams takes a Y2 leap, Boutte is the injury backup.

I like it. Where would you say Hollins factors in ? Seen as how we will be running the ball and being physical this season he fits into that perfectly..

So safe to say AJ, Doubs & Williams?

Yeah, I missed Hollins. You are right. I am not sure.
