PATRIOTS NEWS Rookie Mini Camp - news, notes, etc

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
-Crownover- can he develop quickly, given he is already 24 years old. or is he already at his ceiling?
After watching his rookie presser I’m more confident about his development. He seems eager to be coached and put in the work. Would be an interesting plot twist if he turns out to be our RTOTF. You can’t teach a guy to be 6’7” 319 with an 86” wingspan!

Culver-Stockton's WR Klyle Dixon UDFA very intriguing 6-4 215.

I heard he's 6'2 but he is still easily the most intriguing UDFA we brought in. Chifton and Pop Douglas might end up on the bubble if Culver-Stockton impresses at camp.

I don't think he's anything more than a camp body with an outside shot of making the PS. But stranger things have happened.
True. As we have plenty of examples of guy's who were long shots who ended up becoming solid NFL players.. Jonathan Jones, butler, JC Jackson..

-Morton-will he show he is more up to the task than Devito?

-Miller-can he return KO's and can he pass pro/catch out of the backfield?

-can they find a diamond at CB? Dee Williams from Tennessee?

Why would Morton need to show more than Devito, and how is that even realistic? That's not why Morton was drafted. Tommy has 12 games under his belt and has one player of the week. He has been in this system now for a season and is the backup. Morton was a great pick for development and future trade. We needed another arm in camp and he had good value. Some scouts ranked him much higher than 234.

I like the idea of Crownover being in on the jumbo package, then going out as a tight end to catch a pass on short yardage -- to go along with massive bulk and some athleticism should it be a run play.

It appears the Patriots are trying to appease those posters disgusted by the look of manboobs, as the players are now wearing bras.

Absolutely love it. Can never have to many edge rushers.. Hopefully he can make the team.

Why do you "absolutely love" this signing? Had you known of him before now? Did you mention him in any of the applicable draft threads? You sure there were no better options available, anywhere?

I was hoping those last two spots would go to vets... Silly me.

Dixon would have a different role here than the other two. He's more of a Hollins-type.

Why not have the even more athletic Lomu do that instead, if he's not starting?

And if we're still using OLmen in that role, then why were Gilliam & Hill signed here in the first place?

I stand corrected Cap.. I love the IDEA of adding pass rushers.. means Coach is giving every pass rusher with talent a shot to compete in camp.. who knows? Yeah.. I don't know who's left in the veteran FA pool?
