2026 UDFA Thread - aka Best Thread Of The Year

Look at you backtracking and trying to pretend you weren't full of it. YOU claimed that Chism only saw snaps in the blowouts. You were wrong. Just admit it and move on.
look at you not understanding getting 2 snaps in a game in garbage time proves my point.
Chism has too many games of "inactive" and "0 targets" and "2 offensive snaps" to convince me the staff sees something in him.
now, perhaps they do. but last year they didn't.

ALL the seniors from UNC are still available

At least UNC's seniors got a good education and a few made some good money in NIL payouts.

Yes, the 2025 Heels sucked. 4-13 Bill Belichick has two division 1 Ws in his career. His girlfriend is despised on campus and is now old enough to rent a car. His signings in the portal rank #49 among FBS schools. He did get a few freshmen to rank #21. Over/Under for wins for 2026? 4.5 wins.

Chism never over took anyone
Hollins got injured. They did not want to risk Henderson.
Chism returned kicks and saw some offensive snaps in 2 blow out wins

If Chism were good enough, he would have played last season at the expense of Pop or Hollins.
Says WHO?
He is not a normal speedster type WR, he's a see the hole, hit the hole and wait...

We've had a couple really good players with that skillset... they turned out pretty good.
If he gets beat, so be it, but some people just see the field, and you don't Kupps record if you're stupid.

We'll see.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. Honestly they probably have the trade in place for Brown and are may bring in Diggs, they brought in a bunch of udfa's to throw against the wall to see if they could replace some of our current players, who they obviously aren't committed to at this point. In the case of Boutte, probably hoping for a 5th round draft pick for him if one of the rookies can replace him.
I'll be more clear. The UDFA's are not really competing for a WR roster position unless there are 6 WR's and they are a top returner and would only be labeled a WR if they made the 53. In essence they are competing with Chism for a Practice Squad spot.

I hear he had a decent recruiting class but even then its a few years before one turn things around.

The BB aura has sure faded - the perception was that he could coach up guys to play above their ability - if that's the case they must have been awful.

Edelman was Edelman because of Brady
they each played to the others strengths
Maye has not played that type of football to date.
Chism cannot be Edelman 2.0 with out the QB..
I wasn't being entirely serious.

Welker was DECENT after a couple of years, McDaniel's had something to do with his rise, not just Tom.
Jules waited for Welker to move on, but he had YEARS to learn from the best.
People think Chism should be a stud or a cut, after learning McDaniels offense....
I laugh.
Kid understands holes, if he's not good enough, fine.
But seems like a whole bunch of High Draft picks don't know Jack ****, yet they get a couple/few years just because they can run fast, don't know jack ****, but man are they fast!
We could go down the line of FAILED HIGH DRAFT PICK WRS that have totally SUCHED.

I love Chism but he's always going to be facing competition for his roster spot.
Chism's issue is speed. What people don't understand is speed and quickness are not independent. There are two different tests, the 40 and 3cone, so people think speed and quickness are detached. If the DB knows the WR is slow, then the DB can crowd and jam the WR with no concern for getting beat deep. If a Slot WR is jammed his separation due to quickness is reduced. The lack of speed leads to the defense playing the WR differently. That is why Chism III is not Welker, or Edelman, or Kupp.

Chism made the 53 man roster/ He overtook John Jiles, Jeremiah Webb and the other free agents who came and went.

You have no clue what you’re talking about: This is how organized football has worked for a hundred years… but you think you can reinvent it here on these pages.

Good grief….

Point of Information:

(slot numbers are Reg +play-offs)
Diggs was the top guy in the Slot, seeing 390 snaps there.
Douglas saw 282 snaps in the slot.
Hollins saw 164 snaps in the slot.
Boutte saw saw 70 snaps in the slot
Williams saw 34 snaps in the slot
Chism saw 27 snaps in the slot

Doubs saw most of his time lined up wide (708 of his 831 offensive snaps) But he did see 115 snaps from the slot with the Packers.

Doubs, Holins, Boutte, and Williams are locks..

Douglas, Chism and the UDFAs are fighting for that 5th WR spot. It doesn't help Douglas that he doesn't play Special Teams. Not sure which, if any, of the UDFAs has special teams experience. Either as a returner, Gunner, or edge on opposing FG/Punts.
This is all assuming the roster doesn’t change. I suspect it will.

Walker's 40 time was 4.65, however, like Chism he had elite agility.
Welker, Amendola, Jakobi Meyers, Anquan Boldin, Chad Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, Hines Ward…. the list of successful WR’s who weren’t fast goes on and on.

Edelman had seven catches combined in years two and three, despite being active almost every game.

Was it because he couldn’t play, or was it because Welker in the slot was entrenched, Deion Branch was entrenched, because Gronk and Hernandez were soaking up targets?

If you have veteran players making a lot more money and playing well… nobody is rushing to play the late round pick or undrafted rookie. The depth chart exists for a reason.

Umm.. Edelman had 21 receptions for 182 yards in 5 games. That 5th game was week 6 against the Titans. That's when he broke his arm.

And I'm virtually certain that was still the highest number of catches for any rookie.

The broken arm doesn't explain the downturn in 2010 or 2011.

My point was that they mostly, though not entirely, gave up on developing him as a WR after they pushed him so far down the depth chart.
