Kyle Williams #18, #8, #18

That’s 13 players
You should change your name again. This time it should be "Captain Obvious".

You'll note that he didn't say that they'd all be on the field at the same time. He said lineup. Which is part of the game-day roster.

I would assume that if the Pats re-signed Diggs and traded for Brown, Boutte would be traded. Then it would be Brown in the X, Diggs in the slot, and Doubs in the Z. Depending on the progression of Chism, Douglas could be gone too.

Even if Diggs isn't re-signed, Boutte still might get traded. But if Diggs is re-signed, it is a guarantee.

Diggs as the #2 or possibly the #3 WR would be ideal for him at this point. He could still be a 1,000 yard receiver as a #2 with Brown taking much of the attention away.

I’d rather see Hill turn out to be a good receiver and have him in there in place of Henry.

Although I’m not sure I want to see a lineup of AJ, Diggs, Doubs, Williams and Hollins along with two TEs, 5 OL and a QB. That’s not going to gain ground…
One thing of note.. AJs always been on a team that's had a dominant running Game..he played with Henry in Tennessee and Barkley in Philly.. while I expect the running game to be much better and much more sustainable.. we don't have a prime Henry or Barkley on the roster.. it's going to be very interesting to see how Josh schemes it all up!

So you think he meant we will have no running backs as part of the game day roster. Are you ever right?

Over a 2 season period without Barkley in PHI 22/23), brown had 2952 yards, 190 receptions, and 18 touchdowns. Granted Philly did have the 7th and 9th ranked running games those years, but for contrast NE had the 4th best run game league wide last year. So in theory our running game would be no different than what he’s played with previously while having success.

Thank you!!! That's some dam good information.. for some reason why didn't it feel as if our running game was as good as 4th ranked?

Id prefer the long term plan of AJ, Diggs, Doubs, Williams and Boutee.
Maybe in a future season, but for this year I’d rather see Hollins on the field with the rest of that list. He brings something neither Boutte nor the rest of them do, with his blocking and physical play.

I think THAT is going to be the WR room for this season. I'm beginning to believe that for this season we will only carry 5 WR's on the roster. Think about it. In all likelihood we will carry 4 TE's plus 2 FB's. Why do we need 6 WR's when we will likely be in 2 TE's and a FB 30 to 40% of the time or more.

That being said we will probably keep at least 3 WRs on the PS for protection against injuries and practice purposes, but I only see 5 getting to the 53.
If we carry 4 TEs one of them may be Hollins. Which is my ways of saying I think the likelihood is higher that we carry 3 TEs and Hollins. If we carry two FBs and one of them is Westover he can be sort of a TE hybrid, as there was talk he might try switching back to TE this year.

I think the TE roster will be Henry, Hill, and Raridon. I think Hollins is a roster lock, because he’s a good complement to the rest of the WRs. Not sure if there will be two FBs on the roster or just one with another on the PS.

I think it's extremely unlikely the Pats carry 2 FBs on the 53. Any extra FB will be on the PS. Even 4 TEs might be a stretch though I have mentioned the possibility previously. With a guy like Crownover, the Pats could utilitze him as a Jumbo TE and someone who could catch a pass on a trick play.
Crownover in as an extra blocker on the goal line has interesting potential for him as an eligible receiver. At his size it’s an inevitable mismatch.

Plus he was a basketball star in high school, with a scholarship offer from Baylor, so he knows how to box out.

They didn't have an issue last year with egos. I don't think there will be one this year. I also don't see AJ Brown as part of the plan. I think that the Pats have moved on and the rumors are coming from Brown's agent.

Raridon isn't going to see a lot of snaps this year. Not with Henry, Hill, and Gilliam ahead of him. And that's not a bad thing. He'll get to improve his blocking and his route running and eventually take over from Henry.

You'll about Doubs, Boutte, Williams and Hollins as the primary WRs. Who the 5th WR is will depend on injuries and camp battles.

The hypothetical roster scenario I responded to was Brown, Diggs and Doubs vying for catches along with others, not what you are suggesting. The reason there weren't "ego issues" in the WR group last year was we had only one so-called "star-caliber" veteran in the pecking order.

Rob,

What really will allow the offense to take off into that next gear would be the running game and the TE position being more dynamic. I have really High Hopes for TE Raridon& Having a running game that has substantially.. being able to put a team away in the 4th quarter.. taking up 7 minutes in the first to wear down a defensive line if the run game just got that sustainable factor wich I expect everyone that's operating in the offense will eat handedly..

So was I..
