2027 Watch List

@manxman2601 , @mayoclinic (et al)

Guys I will try to post some info from time to time but if either of you think it is not relevant or not helpful to the 2027 threads just say so and I will delete .....my Scottish skin is thick enough to take the hit.....

I was thinking about who from that list will become the next TJ Parker or Peter Woods. My guess is Rasheem Biles, a 220lb LB or Sunterine Perkins, the 220lb EDGE. I doubt either will be in consideration for the first round in a years time.

I would not have Perkins in my top 50. So undersized.

Lots of guys left off.

We will have a nice climb.

I loved Biles last year. Wanted him on the 4th or so before he went back. But even I think 1st round is wild.

My early thoughts on this class - offense

QB - 2 potential outstanding QBs at the top of the class in Manning and Dante Moore. Plenty of others who are in good situations (Sorsby at Texas Tech, Mensah at Miami, Sayin at Ohio state, Hoover at Indiana, Carr at ND and Leavitt at LSU) who could make it an outstanding class if everything goes right for them. And of course Lanorris Sellars. Very exciting class although with bust potential like last year.

RB - I don't think there's a Love or Jeanty yet but it's a very deep class with a lot of potential day 1 or 2 prospects.

WR - Maybe the best group of the lot. Again, plenty of potential day 1 & 2 guys but with true no 1 X receiver potential from a few prospects.

TE - 2 big names at the top in Jamari Johnson and Trey'dez Green. Depth doesn't look great yet.

OT - Strong at the top, made stronger if Cayden Green is a genuine LT. Jordan Seaton, now of LSU, may become one of the best LTs in years or may be a bust. A high variance prospect.

iOL - Siereveld, Carter Smith and Pieper at the top. Beyond that lots of questions.

Defense

EDGE - 2 potential top 10 guys. Pierre is probably a first rounder but beyond that there's a number of edge rushers who need to prove themselves. Kenyatta Jackson, Anto Saka, Matayo Uiagelelei, Damon Wilson, Quincey Rhodes and Clev Lubin aren't first round locks yet, but could work their way up there.

DT - Quickly becoming one of my favourite classes. There's some exciting prospects at the top like Ahmad Moten, David Stone, A'Mauri Washington, AJ Holmes and Will Echoles. Don't know about the depth beyond that.

LB - Kynggston Viliamu-Asa and Clemson's Sammy Brown are potential first rounders. Beyond that, who knows?

CB - At least for now, this class is Leonard Moore followed by quite a big drop off. But there a lot of potential first/second rounders. Another class I really like.

Safety - Two clear first rounders in Koi Perich and KJ Bolden for now but another potentially deep class. A good draft for secondary prospects.

This is an awesome class for top 10 prospects. It will have a stronger first round than '26 and I think through two rounds, it's better than the draft we've just had. Whether or not that extends through four rounds like '26 did is TBD.

Kayden Mcdonald - 34 defensive stops, 15 pressures

Will Echoles (Ole Miss) - 35 stops, 39 pressures

Look what Echoles (52) does to the FB on this rep.

Jones or Juaire Hill would be great CB candidates opposite Christian Gonzalez .

One thing Jyaire Hill is going to have to improve on is turning PBUs into INTs. I think he had 3 dropped interceptions last year and has something like a 13-2 PBU/INT ratio for his career. He is feisty and fun to watch though.

So I've just found someone potentially very interesting.

Peter Clarke, TE, Temple.

Considering how inflated stocks in genuine Y TEs were in this draft (Boerkircher, Klein etc), Clarke is 6'6", 265lbs.

He had a better run blocking grade than any TE last year other than FB Max Bredeson with an 81.4 grade. Better than Cody Hardy, our new UDFA Tanner Arkin and way better than the best run blocking TE taken in the first three rounds, Nate Boerkircher (72.2).

However, on top of that, only Eli Stowers had a better y/RR than Clarke who was just ahead of Koziol and Raridon. Clarke had 30 receptions for 481 yards for a 16.1 average and 6 TDs.

Definitely a name to be focused on this year.

I brought him up last year.

PFSN has him in the 40s on their current board.

Oh, one more thing ... he's British.

I posted this November 7 about Clarke:

If Eli Raridon shows signs of developing, a true Y-TE would be the best complementary piece.

Oh good. Another first round LT.

What kind of order is that? And why isnt Miami selecting a QB in that class? i stopped there.

For the record, I am only interested in drafting an OT next year if they are an IOL conversion, and NOT in the 1st round.
