Nice.

Roll on Aug 29th. I've missed college football.

My son did a semester college exchange at Oklahoma State so I was please to see they got a mention in the team rankings article. (OK , I know they are not top drawer....lol).

Since Gundy was fired there seems to be some hope they can be competitive in their Big 12 Conference at least with a whole new coaching staff and transfers. I will not hold my breath though. Cant be much worse as they were bottom last season.

They have one of the better QBs this year in Drew Mestemaker and a very good RB. They have a shot at a winning season.

Simplistic EDGE Rusher rankings for 2027.

Note - no real scouting beyond what I saw last year and basic research.

Top10

1. Colin Simmons, Texas
2. Dylan Stewart, S Carolina

First Round

3. Yhonzae Pierre, Alabama

Might get into 1st with good year

4. Matayo Uiagelelei, Oregon
5. Damon Wilson, Miami (formerly Mizzou but moved to good spot at Miami)
6. Kenyatta Jackson, Ohio State
7. Clev Lubin, Louisville
8. Quincy Rhodes Jr, Arkansas

Mid rounds (for now)

9. Boubacar Traore, Notre Dame
10. Anto Saka, Texas A&M
11. Princewill Umanmielen, LSU
12. Teitum Tuioti, Oregon
13. John Henry Daley, Michigan
14. Trey White, Texas Tech
15. Will Heldt, Clemson

Early days but the LB class looks more average than this year. At the top of the list currently

And Ben Roberts who is more WILL than MIKE.

Do we want to keep this watch list going until the CFB season starts and then break the class down into positional threads or start the positional threads now? I'm happy either way so over to you guys.

The former PFF college football guys do their first 2027 mock.

5 QBs in top 12, including Atlanta going QB for 2nd time in 3 years.

3 of my IOL binkies going 1st round: Cayden Green, Carter Smith, Kade Pieper. No Austin Siereveld.

3 1st round safeties. No Jelani McDonald.

My CB2 binky Jyaire Hill. d%#*!@t.

At 27 for the Pats I would consider Kade Pieper (28), Austin Siereveld, Jamari Johnson, Yhonzae Pierre, or Jelani McDonald.

The top two CBs drafted this year and their completed catch percentage against.

Mansoor Delane - 40%
Chris Johnson - 41.9%

Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi State
I talked about him during the course of last season. Thankfully he went back to school so I get to talk about him again. Below is his completed catch percentage for you to compare to the two above.

Kelley Jones - 28.9%

Delane and Johnson both had 9 pass break ups or interceptions. Kelley Jones? 11.

One other relevant detail. Kelley Jones is 6'4" and 195lbs. Kiper says he runs 4.4 or better. He also only had 3 missed tackles on the year.

If he plays to the same level next year as he did the last, he's an early candidate for one of my preferred options for the first pick.

James Foster did a cut up on him.

there's no Bain and Mesidor for me to enjoy next season at Miami, but Ahmad Moten is the next best thing.

Still way too early but as of today safety/cb or LB has to be the pick.
I love Ben Roberts and Hubbard.
Part of me wants Charlie Becker but hopefully we will be picking way too late for that.

One of my major wants for 2027 is an athletic RG to complete the OL build out. Current list includes Austin Siereveld, Cayden Green, Carter Smith, Kade Pieper and PJ Williams.

Here's another to keep an eye on. Texas is moving 2025 RT Brandon Baker inside to RG:

At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Baker has always projected as more of a natural guard than tackle. While he handled right tackle well last season — allowing no sacks and just two quarterback hits — his combination of size, footwork and athleticism may actually fit better on the inside.

That added movement ability is exactly what Texas wants in Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

Baker brings tackle-level speed to the guard spot, which helps in pull schemes and second-level blocking while still giving the Longhorns a technically sound interior presence.

I just realized there’s a ton of guys I like because I watched them thinking they were going to be in this years draft. The list will be long in 27.

PFSN's initiatial 2027 rankings are up.

For OL:

OT: (potential tackle -> IOL in parentheses)

8. Jordan Seaton
13. Trevor Goisby
22. Blake Frazier
30. Anthonie Knapp
44. Brandon Baker*
66. PJ Williams*
72. Niki Prongos
93. Trevor Lauck
112. Carter Smith

IOL:

19. Austin Siereveld
29. Kade Pieper
35. Cayden Green
51.Samson Okunlola
55. Greg Johnson

As expected, rankings are all out of whack, with many players listed in the 200s who are potential day 1 or 2 picks:

112. Koi Perich, S, Oregon
115. Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio St. (!!!)
118. LaNorris Sellers, QB, S. Carolina
120. Damon Wilson, EDGE
173. Terrance Carter, TE, Texas Tech
182. McKale Boley, IOL, Virginia
197. CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
221. Jyaire Hill, CB, Michigan
230. Arion Carter, LB, Tennessee
259. OJ Frederique, CB, Miami (!)

I've found someone who will definitely be worth paying attention to next year. Jaccarius Peak, formerly of NC State and at S Carolina next year. Before he decided to go back to school, he was getting 3rd round buzz and would probably have climbed higher. Look at these numbers for a 308lb LT.

"This offseason, Peak vertical ran a 4.86 40 and hit 19.8 mph on the GPS. He jumped 32.5 inches, broad jumped 9-3 and timed a very impressive 4.37-second shuttle. That would’ve been the fastest shuttle time of any offensive lineman at the 2024 combine, besting former Texas Tech Freak Lister Caleb Rogers’ 4.49. Peak bench pressed 405 pounds, squatted 585 and cleaned 350."

What do you think about Peak moving inside?

@manxman2601 , @mayoclinic (et al)

Guys I will try to post some info from time to time but if either of you think it is not relevant or not helpful to the 2027 threads just say so and I will delete .....my Scottish skin is thick enough to take the hit.....
