Time to own it.

I go B.

Some odd picks in 5 and 6, hated the QB pick. Loved first three picks, Crownover, and Miller.

Days 1&2: A
Day 3: I liked the OT in RD6; the rest…TBD

Overall grade: B

I don’t think it’s an F. I had to choose the Ray option, due to contractual obligations.

d%#*!@t! I intentionally rolled that option into F thinking no one would pick it because I secretly hate that tradition of ours.

The FO picked their guys early, then largely punted on day 3. I can live with that. Not my favorite, but they got some key contributors.

It was a mixed bag. Some solid picks for value based on initial scouting reports. Some that were a bit 'reachy'. Nobody on the level of Strange, though.

I will never understand 'grading a draft' before these people even put on shoulder pads.
I will continue to say this every year.
That’s why it’s fun. Go on record so you can see how on or off you were in 3 years.

Example: I didn’t love last years draft…I was wrong.

I hated the Polk draft…I was right.

B+

Lomu, Jacas and Crownover were fine picks, as well as getting a 2027 pick.

Raridon, Obiazor and Hutchins were OK picks.

For me, that's a pretty good haul. As of this very early date, I would expect the 6 to make the 53 and have good chances of being contributors.

I didn't like Prunty, Miller and Morton (but 2 are 7th rounders, and, for me, Hutchins. made up for Prunty)

I mean, draft grades are arbitrary at this point. The one certainty is RLKAG.

F. Patriots do not care about putting on a show and fielding an exciting product.
They have zero creativity and will never take risks and shoot for the homerun.
All 3 other teams in the division had better and more interesting drafts than pats.
Bottom third of the league team next year and boring while doing it.

Is this satire?

You seem fun.

For me, now is time to speculate. You are considering all the analysis and projecting how well they will perform. Did the drafters get value for their picks?

But, sure, there is another, very different analysis. Every year, we could spend a lot of time analyzing drafts from 3 years ago.

For me, the first is an analysis of the draft. The second is an analysis of how the player fit in, performed, and were coached (and how well they avoided injuries)..

For example, I think it silly to always say how bad the jets drafts are. After all, if you judge them 3 years later, they all look bad. But that is a function of management and coaching rather than the skills of those drafting the players. This year, the jets, the giants, the eagles and the raiders had really incredibly good drafts. They did very well in drafting very excellent talent, given the choices that they had to work with.

Of course, when we look at these drafts in 3 years, much of the perception will depend on the coaching and on other players on the team. A team could draft a top QB and he could look awful depending on the rest of team and the coaching. As some may know, Qb's and RB's look very bad if the OL's are terrible.

Kadyn Proctor, the steal of the draft.

I gave it a B. Pats made 9 picks, I’d guess maybe 5 make the final 53 and then most of the rest land on our practice squad.

Between free agency and the draft, I feel the team has improved a decent amount. As well as some of these picks were made with the future in mind.

LOVED the first 3 picks. Liked some of the late picks including Crownover, Obiazor & Miller. Prunty has some good measurables. Morton makes sense, need a 3rd string QB. Probably is cut and lands on the practice squad. Don’t know much about Hutchins. But I can see him on the practice squad as well.

I think it was telling that the Pats didn’t take a WR. Hopefully on June 1st, we’ll make sure that wasn’t a mistake.

UDFA should be interesting. We’ll see if they sign a WR. I really wanted to double dip at TE, so was kinda disappointed they didn’t do so. But I guess they’re happy with Raridon added to Goodfellas Henry & Hill. Maybe they’ll add one in UDFA.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the draft. Good talent has been added. That’s what I noticed in the last 2 drafts, they are going after talented players, not really going after reaches trying to show they’re smarter than others like Belichick did in his drafts late in his Patriot’s tenure.
