Tell your Media to ask Pats players what they think about Bob. Theywill likely tell you that you have to know where he is on the field at all times. Its not often that an Offense is more worried about where a safety is rather than the Linebackers(especially the Mic backer). That is why Bob is deserving, and complaining about it doesnt matter because it is DONE.
BAD BOB. Careful, he knows where you live.
I think it has more to do with a Colt receiving the award than anything. Which I can appreciate. Heck, if Roidney got it, or Vrabel, I would have said the same thing. Fact is, much like league MVP, it is all based on what that individual did to help HIS team, has little to do with stats and numbers as most would like to believe. Sanders adds more to his team than just a safety that needs to be accounted for, much in the way Bruschi (sp?) does for the Pats. Dont hate the player, hate the game. You guys are better than that.

This is true because without Rodney we don't beat Baltimore(he makes at least 6 plays on the last three drives including 3 straight on the second to last drive that led to the game-winning TD), Colts(key Int & shuts down Clark), & the Pittsburgh game(2 plays on goal line stand with the game still in doubt. If he is the DPOY then show me where he singlehandly saved or won one game for Indy.
There is no one else even close to worthy of DPOY.
I'm not sure if Bob Sanders deserved the DPOY award but like a lot of posters here, find him to be a great player.
My one question is how has he raised his level of play this year after missing 24 games in the last 3 seasons due to injuries and the majority of those missed games due to knee injuries?
Anyone who's had a knee messed up will tell you that your likely never going to be the same. You lose speed, cutting, quickness. Yet Bob Sanders is covering more ground than ever?
I'm skeptical that he's done this naturally.
Ouch, he's now chemically enhanced, jeez.
Anyway, a couple of things I'll always respectfully disagree with AndyJohnson on the whole he does what is supposed to do, so therefore he's overated. I say this because you can make this claim about any player, just insert a name. I can see the argument that his numbers are mediocre to just good, but if that is the criteria then just call it the "most sacks award" or the most tackles or interceptions".
To me its what he means to the team and I don't think its a coincidence they got better after he came back last year, as someone said.
Dungy calls him the Eraser meaning he erases mistakes made by the Defense, overall. I buy this. There was a set of plays against Tennesee where he hits the running back behind the line of scrimmage on 2nd down and then breaks up and end zone pass 40 yards down field on 3rd down.
Too, he hits as hard or harder than almost every other guy in the game with little regard for his own well being. This makes for the other teams players to think about this a bit.
Now you can say all of the things about him being a bad pass defender, he spears, you don't like that he flexes, or even pick one or two particular plays in which he is in the back ground of a spectacular one handed catch. It's subjective.
Imho, many have paid him the biggest compliment in that they wish he was a Pat. I'd go one further, if he was a Pat, he'd be beloved on the level of a Tom Brady, almost.
Lastly, all this doesn't matter. The other players respect him, the other coaches think he's very good at the least. He is DPOY and I don't know as early as 3 years ago I would have ever seen a Colts player get that recognition.
I didnt say someone who does what they are supposed to do is overrated. I am saying someone who does what they are supposed to do, AND RATED AS IF THEY DO MORE, is overrated.
Sorry for the mis statement, thank you for correcting it.

I'm slow today or maybe alot of days, I don't get it? Someone?
No soup for you, reference, maybe??
If so, very good, love obscure, now if I could just think of my girlfriends name, I know it rhymes with something...
Otherwise, I still disagree with Andy, I didn't think it needed restated.
I think its a joke to name Sanders Defensive Player of the Year.
What he does is play the role he is asked to. That role means that he is often asked to come up and make tackles in a scheme that leaves him unblocked. He does a good job of it, but is merely making the plays the defensive call says he should.
To say the Colt defense is the difference between top 5 and awful because of him is silly. The only evidence of that is that they were awful with an without him last year, and there improvement HAPPENED to coincide with him getting back on the field. What Bob Sanders does is not at all unique. Many defenses have run that type of system, and many safeties have been better at it. If Bob Sanders deserves DPOY then Rodney Harrison should have had about 6 of them when he was in SD. He did EXACTLY the same thing, but in his case he was making 120 tackles. ....
