DRAFT Welcome Caleb Lomu OT Utah

Really can't begin to argue with the pick. OT and Edge are their two biggest needs. They got a 1st round projection in the late first round.

I'm higher on Dre'mont Jones than most here, I expect. He's got that Baltimore D-line attitude. They need one more, though (I'd still like to trade for Crosby over AJ Brown).

Know nothing about Lomu or pretty much any of the players in the draft. So I really cannot speak to him specifically and whether he was the right player to take.

Like the pick though. They need to build up the line. Getting a RT for the next decade or long was a priority.

Morgan Moses is 35 and has had problems staying on the field prior to last year. They need a starter quality RT to be able to step in for 3 or 4 games or even half the season. I know he will start out as the swing tackle, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't starting by midseason.

Personally, I would have liked to get an edge rusher. But OT was a need and the drop off after Lomu was significant. So I don't have a problem with the pick. They can still get a good edge rusher in the second. A much deeper position in this draft.

Believe Campbell has been getting a totally unfair rap because of his superbowl performance & Had we won the superbowl the talk would be totally different! He struggled! He was hurt and never should have been out there. I'm sure of he was honest he would admit that. He's our LT and was rock solid last season prior to him getting hurt... he won the job in camp and was a starter... I think ppl really need to ease up off the Campbell criticism!

Campbell was good prior to injury last year. I don't think he will ever be a top 10 LT, but he could be a solid one. Maybe in the 11-15 range. Above average.

But they should have never played him in the playoffs since he couldn't move fast enough to pick up the outside edge rushers. And it affected his technique. Should have started Lowe.

Same here. I'm very high on Jones.. he's a 3 down player and he's got a relentless motor.. absolutely need another guy I'd say even 2.. can never have to may edges. I watched the lomu interview the kid has the right attitude and demeanor you want out your OT.. he could very well end up a starter!

He was prior to his injury in the top half of OTs in pass protection %.. he was solid and the injury just comprised him.. he had the restrictive brace on he couldn't plant, lateral movements, push off, for a guy that needs to protect on the edge at LT he severely compromised the offense playing hurt. The only thing I could critique Vrabel on for allowing last year. As a rookie he was solid and had his ups and downs.. but at 22 his career is just beginning and compared to the absolute garbage play from LT prior to us drafting him we are in a far better place of stability!

THE GLARING NEED. Don’t get this fixed, and this season will see a regression.
Campbell just got put on notice.

You dont use your 1st draft pick on a swing OT unless your OL is presently rock solid. That is not the Pats case at all. W.C. and Lomu will compete for LT this season and may the best man for the job win. RT is easy to find and LTs that struggle often switch to RT having much better results.

Campbell was the first one to reach out said lomu during his post draft interview. Wolf affirmed Campbell is the starting LT. The only ones put on notice is Marcus Bryant and Wallace.. guys that will need to earn thier roster spot this camp!

"Protect the Drake" has been my primary roster goal: I want the most athletic and talented OL out there. Specifically, I wanted to come out of the draft with 4/5 long-twrm starters in place.

After Max Iheanachor went off the board at 21 things looked dim. Lomu (OT) and Keylan Rutledge (RG) were the 2 guys left in the draft who I felt fit, and when Houston took Rutledge at 26 that left only one. Goal accomplished.

Here are the athletic profiles of that 4/5 long-term starts, all of whom will be under contract through at least 2028:

Mike Onwenu is in a contract year, is overpaid, and doesn't really fit schematically or in terms of athletic profile with the others.

That leaves RG for 2027 (though Micah Morris could be a sneaky day 3 option), where guys like Austin Siereveld, Carter Smith, Cayden Green and Kade Pieper could be options.

The focus on high athletic scores has been super obvious in the new regime. The scores coming out of the combine on some of these guys is eye opening.

Thinking guard will be in the mix for the later rounds. Guard, lb, safety, maybe a new rb will all be available the next 2 days. Owenu replacement this year or next. Seems like the throw a bunch of darts at the board approach is gonna happen at LB

Campbell had good games in 2025 vs teams whose DC didnt figure out how to attack him and get to Maye.

The 2026 season will be night and day different.

I wanted edge. But very happy with the selection. Can play multiple positions. Big,strong, high character. I watched his post draft interview. Absolutely love the guy already. Hopefully I get my edge guy today at #63!

Looks like the front office is continuing their work from last year. Somehow managing to land all of need/value/character in their picks. Yes i pray we can do the same at edge and lb now. Wouldn’t hate to see Te/s either if those aren’t there

What's your opinion on who's available at #63?
Not sure, but it wouldn't bother me if they packaged another late pick and moved up again.

I like Dani Dennis-Sutton, think he is an impact DE with first round value found in the second.

If still around at 63, I'd consider Gabe Jacas.

If these two aren't there frankly I like other positions better and would probably take a TE or DT if there were an impact player available. Not a lot of edge players distinguish themselves in this draft.

Yeah Campbell is gonna be a perfectly fine LT. I think people will be surprised this off season just how much better he will look. You cannot have enough OTs in the modern NFL. You can get a pretty damn good one? You do it. Period.
Absolutely! I saw as well as we all did enough of him to see he is a solid player.. he has a tenacity in him and is one of the more physical LTs in the league.. at 23 his football career is only beginning.. anyone with criticism should look at the LT play from 2024 in comparison to last season!

I really like the lomu pick up more I read on him the better. He said he was hoping he would get a chance to play here! He said Campbell was the first person to text him.
