Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
So it's probably safe to say they talked BEFORE free agency and Moses told him he's planning on playing a full season and safe to say that Vrabel has enough confidence in that to bypass RT in free agency.

In my eyes that doesn't make RT any less of a priority but that's certainly a positive sign.

I'd say it's one thing to leave a starting position to be addressed in the draft when it's a high pick like we had last year, but another if you have to wait til the end of the 1st round or later to address a starting position

To put it another way, I don't think Vrabel learned that Moses isn't up to another season and then signed Hudson for $1.4 mil to be the starter.
I would not be happy if we take a RT @ 31. Any Rounds after that: our RT is probably not going to play if MM have another decent year. Draft a Developmental RT in the Second - Third or Fourth Round knowing they can sit for a year. I see that many here have already written off Marcus Bryant; who basically sat his Rookie year. Marcus Bryant could surprise us at RT like Boutte did a WR.

I'm thinking it's more likely he gets dealt in the AJ agreement.. I would rather keep him..
IF we keep him and acquire A.J. the need for a WR this year becomes very minimal. A.J. - Boutte - Doubs - KW and Barefoot.

Hmmmmm I wonder if we could use Boutte in a Trade up possibility??
I think if they were to trade Boutte it would be for a proven player rather than a rookie

I think the trade is going to happen but if if doesn't, there's still the option of keeping Boutte or even extending him now, and brining back Diggs and you'd still have an upgraded WR corps over last year while keeping a draft pick and not spending the $93 million on Brown's remaining contract.

That being said, paying between $22-$29 mil on the cap isn't going to look bad in a few years so just comes down to what type of an offense Josh envisions.

One that's spread but incredibly efficient like last year? Or one more focused on Brown with the up and downsides that comes with a more predictable and traditional passing game.

Seems like they want the traditional route whereas I think their spread offense can be more formidable.

Defense gave up points because they were consecutively on the field for the entirety of the game. Our offense kept giving the ball back to Seattle the more opportunities you have on offense it's only a matter of time and that's the story.

IMO that's not the only story. If you asked me if I would swap our defensive players for theirs I would say yes, I would. That says to me we have work to do on the roster if we want to have a legit Super Bowl defense.

Points I'm trying to make is Drake.. is although I like Daniels.. Drake is a better QB and has better coaching and a better overall team around him. Not a bunch of mercenaries like Washington had.

I think if you look at a bunch of our veteran acquisitions from last season we could label them as mercenaries too. Diggs was one. He came here to try to raise his profile, not to stay here long term. The departing role players on D were others. Some cashed in, some didn't.

. My 2 cents:

Schefter's speculation just reiterates the SAME points we have been talking about for more than 90 pages.

1. This deal won't happen until after June 1. - Well, what a revelation, Adam

2. The deal will likely happen with the Patriots - Well, what a revelation, Adam

3. The deal will likely be for a #1 pick in '27 or 28. Well, Howie just called to say thank you, Adam.

4. AJ Brown's time in Philly is over - Actually that IS news. I figured it was 50-50 that he would stay.

Those are essentially the 4 items of "news" that Schefter supposedly broke this morning. And I'm pretty sure the parameters of a deal have already been worked out already. I'm hoping it doesn't include a future #1 but I think it will be a 2nd and a player.

Now we would have a WR room of AJB - a top 10 WR in the league. Doubs - a first down machine who can give us a repeat of what Diggs gave us last year. Williams - explosive speed we hope will give us a 2nd year leap. One of Boutte/Douglas - Boutte is a rising asset, and Douglas hopefully will progress his route running vs zones in his 2nd year with Josh's offense. Hollins gives Maye a big reliable target. and we will see how Chism progresses.

That is a BIG upgrade to the WR room and that's before the draft. That's why there is NO reason to add a day one or two WR. Instead, we need to take advantage of a strong TE class and grab one on day 2. TE is priority. We will probably be in 2 TE sets more than we are in 3 WRs sets this year. Also, our RB's will see an increase in looks this season. I think our best WR draft option will happen on day 3 after the 4th round. From what I'm hearing, there are a bunch of uber quick slot guys that can be gotten in the 5th or 6th round. One of these could be used if Douglas is the "player to be named later" in the Brown deal.

That fact that the Bungles gave up the 10th pick in the draft for Lawrence is NOT going to help us in bargaining for AJB. I'd offer a 28 first or a 27 2nd and Douglas and perhaps a 5th, OR you can agree with whatever Howie wants, then announce the trade and do a Ravens and fail him in the physical and demand less compensation for being willing to take on "damaged goods" That could work.

Those 29 points were not the defense's fault lol

You are free to think that if you want, but I think it's a rationalization.

Yes, our offense sucked, but I don't think our D was Super Bowl quality.

And have1300yds receiving with 14 TD's: the spin doctors will changed their tunes. On this washed up over the hill WR.
When pigs fly.

A lot here didn't think Boutte was capable of doing what he did last year. Some also thought before last season he wasn't even worth a PS spot. My my how the Boutte tides have turned.
He caught 10 fewer balls than the previous year (33) and had 550 yards, tied for 125th in the league. He didn't exactly set the world on fire.

I agree on your trade return point but how can you differentiate between “lost a step” and simply a poor passing QB in Jalen Hurts?
The video that shows him running like he's wearing cement overshoes?

Neither did Hurts see the connection??

Huh!

So bill? You're saying you'd swap out the 9th ranked overall defense and AFCC for the 30th ranked Washington defense?

Ya I get what you're saying on we had some mercenaries as well..but the patiots overall roster is far much better than that of the commanders.

The same was said of Randy Moss walking Routes before his Trade here. Then he had a year for the Ages with Brady. Have history taught you anything roc??
