Both Vrabel and Moses want Moses to stay and be as good as last year.

It doesn't follow that we should go with Campbell and Moses as OT's with very weak backups.

The focus on FB indicates that Maye will have a body guard on his left during passing downs. If Campbell does get beat there is a another line of defense before getting to Maye.

I think what's getting lost here is offensive lineman don't sub in/out like defensive guys. There isn't one team in this league we can say "oh this team has excellent back up OTs". Offensive lineman have tons of pride look at Logan mankins playing the season on an ACL injury that year. These guys take pride in protecting the QB. They don't want to come off the field. Yes, we need to strengthen depth and ultimately have a replacement for Moses next season but shirt of that the OL is solid. Really like the vera-tucker pick up.

No indications Moses is retiring. Could his level of play fall off a cliff to where he needs to be replaced? Sure, that's always a real threat with someone that age. It's why many have advocated for a competent swing tackle or investing a high pick in an OT even if there isn't an immediate path to starting. I think it's pretty universally agreed that there's a good chance Moses is gone next year as a cap casualty and him playing well for a full season this year is a roll of the dice like it always is at that age.

To be more clear, if we went into camp with Moses and Bryant as aur RT's and Moses announced his retirement (or went on IR), I would expect us to sign a veteran free agent within a week.

They would have to sign someone assuming they didn’t already draft someone who looked good… that doesn’t mean much. The same would be true if Bryant got hurt in practice behind Moses, they would sign someone.

I have been hammering the table for another tackle, but I still think Bryant has potential to take over behind Moses. But you can’t build your team based of “maybe” and “possibly.” Even if they draft a tackle at 31 there is the distinct possibility he’d sit behind Bryant if Moses went down with injury. Vrabel clearly values veteran experience.

Moses slid in the draft because he spent a few years at the smaller American Conference program before transferring to the SEC for his final college season. He was good enough to keep Armand Membou pinned to the right tackle spot while he played the left. He has decent athleticism, he needs refinement and to work on his agility. Some prospects need development, it doesn’t make them bad.

Whenever Belichick had a position to fill he’d bring in at least 3-4 guys to compete for the job. Nothings changed, the 2026 Patriots just have the luxury this offseason to add prospects for next year and beyond. They filled the last 2025 starting positions in free agency. This draft is looking towards the future and having quality depth behind the starters.

That and the possibility Campbell’s struggles at tackle continue.

We’ll see after the draft. It just seems odd to speculate this now.

Rarely do you see OL subbing in and out. NE did in 2001 with the C who couldnt shotgun snap, but it worked.

I wonder if NE will have 2 FBs on the 53 - Westover and Gilliam since that position will be a key cog in the 2026 NEP offense.

Well. Westover if he makes the team likely ends up a PS candidate provided we have gilliam who is a far superior athlete and blocker.
