If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

Are you sure? His coach believes in him..

So you're saying Vrabel shouldn't say that about players he drafted less then a year ago? He has 19 career snaps on offense for a reason.

Look I get it. You may not have faith in an unproven player. So you would tend to believe that someone in FA that is still available (for a reason obviously) would be a better option than a OT that has already been here in the system? You don't believe Bryant would have an opportunity to start if Mo retired or went down? Now if we take an OT like I know we will ok then my thinking changes .

IIRC, Wolf was explicitly asked about this at his press conference and he said Moses is 100% NOT retiring.
Post SB loss Vrabel gave Moses a huge Bro hug and told him how pleased that Moses was a Patriot.

It certainly gave me the impression that Vrabel was moving on and already thinking 2026 season.

Overall, Moses play was mostly positive IMO.

Couldn't that also just mean exactly what he said - that he is happy he is here? Moses is a core locker room leader. There doesn't have to be a further implication.

Look at the tweet closer, particularly the date, 08/10/25. Vrabel 'believed' in Bryant so much he subsequently gave him 19 offensive snaps on the season. True, you can't coach size and he's 6'7" and 317 but the kid was a 7th rounder for a reason. As a developmental player he was certainly worth the 220th overall selection but so far that's as far as it's gone. If Bryant develops further and the pick proves out that's great but at this point in time let's not get carried away until he does

I saw a random clip from the msn page which rated the top 16 players of the 2020 draft 5 years later and one fact popped out. There were IIRC 4 OT's rated. The one who had the best rookie year (To the Browns) never was as good after that season and is no longer with the Browns. The other 3 all had very choppy rookie years, then by their 2nd years had ALL turned into franchise OT's with at least one probowl selection. (I think the other teams are the Texans, Giants, and Cardinals and the Giants guy has had injury issues, but when healthy has been very good. their names escape me at this moment.

The point here is that (according to the clip) highly picked OT's OFTEN have rough years as rookies, but for the most part (as this article portrays) they turn out to be very good. I expect great things from Will Campbell this season. I expect him to comeback healthy, stronger, and above all SMARTER in both his knowledge of the offense and its semantics, AND in what to expect from individual players he is competing against

Not counting ST's the Pats had 4 rookie starters on last year's team (Campbell, Wilson, Woodson, and Henderson) and I expect all of them to be upgrades to the players they WERE in 2025. Hopefully the ST's rookies will also improve their games. We also upgraded (imho) at LG, S, and Edge. The other FA signings are more questionable, and we will have to see how they pan out in their roles.

This year's draft, I'd be happy if ONE of the 11 picks (I hope we don't actually pick that many) becomes a starter or at least a rotational guy (40+% of the snaps). If we get 3 to that level, it's a homerun of a draft for me. Hut on the hole, THIS is a draft of developmental players, and it might take 2 or 3 years to see results since the vast majority of the picks (8) will come on the 3rd day.

Thanks for the insight brother! As always much appreciated. This is a fair point. However I'm never going to conclude that 0 % is percentage of chance a young developing player has to make a contribution.. guys are in the NFL for a reason, and Bryant has no excuses. He'll have to take the coaching and apply his technique and earn his keep. I believe he got hurt at some point last season or something to that point?

It also could have been he knew Mo is a veteran and could also contemplate retirement as often as players do 30 plus in the league.. ? Nonetheless I will say it will be something to keep watch on because today a player is committed that first 90 degree camp padded practice can change a mind quickly.

If he retires the most likely scenario is Bryant or a rookie ends up being the RT.. what about is landry retires? Who's the starting Edge?
Jones
To answer your indirect question, Ponder is our #3 EDGE rusher.

It did not give me the impression that Moses would be leaving if Vrabel has any say.

Less the zero percent chance Bryant is the starting RT in any scenario.
I liked what I saw from Bryant in camp, but it is telling he didn’t get snaps in the regular season when the opportunity was there.

I agree 100%.

Both Vrabel and Moses want Moses to stay and be as good as last year.

It doesn't follow that we should go with Campbell and Moses as OT's with very weak backups.

Jones already is a starter.. I'm going to maintain my position.. Landry is the starting edge on paper. Remember Jones replaced chassion in FA.

To be fair there is a big difference between getting carried away and not totally giving up on him.

What I’ve seen posted on here seems to be either he’s dogfood that will never start because in his rookie year he took 19 snaps, or that he might be the replacement if/when Moses retires. I’d say the former is more getting carried away, with negativity, than the latter is with positivity.

???

Is anyone giving up on Bryant?

He is a 7th rounder who has shown coaches enough for him to come to 2026 camp as the imcumbent. His situation seems similar to Wallace.

This.

Couldn't have said it any better!!. He was 7th round pick.. a guy with tremendous upside and provided he's taken the coaching should show improvement as all rookies should.. same for K. Williams, Ponder, Wilson, Campbell, Woodson and all the rookies we played last year. They all stand to be better. Didn't Bryant also get hurt last season?

No. But to dismiss it as a 0% chance he could supplant Moses if he retired/went down.. is a force. You are right. He's in a similar situation at Wallace who himself will need to show something.

0% chance

To be more clear, if we went into camp with Moses and Bryant as aur RT's and Moses announced his retirement (or went on IR), I would expect us to sign a veteran free agent within a week.
