If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

Is Moses retiring a real concern? I thought all indications was he was excited to return for another year.
It is always concern for a 35 year old player. Should we simply count on him playing as well as las season for 20 games?

Calvin Anderson, Theyer Munford, Yodne Cajuste, Yasir Durant and Tyrone Wheatley are all available. Color me shocked. Altho Anderson and Munford are serviceable backups.

What exactly do you mean by “count on”?

I would feel much better if Munford were signed.

IIRC, Wolf was explicitly asked about this at his press conference and he said Moses is 100% NOT retiring.
OK, as of April, Moses INTENDS to play 20 games and be as good as last year.

IMO, it is malfeasance to act as if this will actually happen.

In patriot history, there have been many very good older OL's who come to OTA's and camp and then decided to retire. And, yes, there are some players who actually decline in play when they continue to play at 35, even if they are able to play all 20 games.

It is sort of a tradition for older patriot OL's. For example, last year, we lost Schweitzer and Andrews. And we were so prepared that we ended up having to starting Wilson at LG.

Moses intends to play, I don't know where the retirement talk comes from.

That being said the correct answer to the question is the draft.

Not only could they take a tackle now and have a potential answer to add to Marcus Bryant, but the other alternative is to slide one of their starting guards (Vera-Tucker) outside and draft one of the many quality guards in this class.

I think even if nothing changes, they should add both a tackle and a guard in this draft class... along with another TE who can block like Roush or Delp. They need to improve the overall blocking on this team beyond just the OLine.

Generally it comes from your body saying "I can't do this no mo"...and generally that happens in camp with an Oh **** moment.

I suppose, but he didn't miss a single start last season.

Some guys are just built different.

I still think his age makes OT arguably their biggest need.

Look at Trent Williams who is several years older and still playing at an elite level.

Some guys just have their technique perfected and getting older doesn’t have as much impact because they’re so good at what they do. Moses is a very good right tackle and I don’t think he will suddenly hit the wall at 36 and hang up his cleats for good despite not missing a single start at 35. We would likely start seeing games missed due to injury, some degradation of play, etc, before that.
