I would NOT trade him to Denver. He could be a star there. I would try to be patient. Remember that Jimmy Smith was a 2nd round draft pick and didn't have any success with his 1st team, but then went to the Jaguars and had a borderline HOF career.

Your points are taken. I do not want this thread to go down the road of so many others.....all I would say is that to the "why would he with the receiving corps we have this year?" you see it as a cause and I see it as a result The Patriots brought in all those guys because they didn't see CJ contributing this year; not the other way around.

The Broncos were interested in paying Daniel Graham as one of the highest paid at his position so I would not put much past them.

He was on the PUP list for the beginning of this year, which would be why they needed to make the trades that they did. That's why, imo, the Stallworth deal was structured in a way that it wouldn't last much more than 1 year as originally written. He was to replace Jackson for this year, and this offseason I expect that Stallworth will be cut as a result (if he isn't, then I'll admit that you're right on this one ). Jackson and Welker are totaly different types of players, so I don't read much into that. And as for Randy Moss, anytime you can get a player of that caliber for a 4th, you do it regardless of how CJ is progressing.

I think everybody forgets we got fleeced by the Packers by trading with them for Jackson on draft day in 2006. We swapped 2nd rounders and gave them our third round pick so we could move up for CJack.


With our 2nd they drafted WR Gregg Jennings (1552 receiving yds, 15 td's in two seasons) with our 3rd they got Jason Spitz.. starting center/Guard.

You don't know that yet he could still become a very good player he showed flashes of it this year on a couple of KO returns and ran good routes late in games when he was in there. But i doubt most of the people on here would know that because they would not have cared about what was happening after Brady and Moss left the game

There is no way I trade Chad Jackson to the Broncos. Chad's time to display those great skills and gifts that he has comes next season when Stallworth moves on. Chad Jackson is going to be a star in this league, he's just waiting for his chance.

I really wish, atleast for now, that BB get Chad back in there to return kicks, the guy is "great field position" waiting to happen.

By all accounts (and scouting reports) CJ was too immature when he came out as a Junior. The injuries last year, early in the year with the hamstring and later in the year with the ACL, compounded his problems. He was behind on the learning curve from the outset and could never make it up. With the late injury, he was a potential scratch for the entire '07 campaign. He still cannot be counted out (for the future) because I think that BB wants to immerse him with a seasoned veteran corps and hope he becomes one of them by osmosis. He'll still be only what, 24 or 25 next year? With Stallworth likely gone, he'll have a HUGE opportunity to become a star. He will know by then what the price of that status is. The only question remaining will be, does he want to make the sacrifice?

Well, we agree there. Jackson was injured coming off surgery that often takes 1.5-2 years before a player is 100%. So of course the Pats couldn't expect anything from him. Thus they made moves in free agency.

I would say, unless you have a hidden microphone at Gilette, the only ones who know what the Pats think of or plan for Jackson are the coaches and front office.

Bethel Johnson is a no risk gamble with high upside. Whatever he failed to grasp about being a professional could very well have kicked in on the unemployment line, that's what it takes for some.

I recall players we threw on the scrap heap being picked up by the successful franchises to have great moments or careers elsewhere. Plunkett and Irving Fryar come to mind.

Rushing rookies and laughing at players who don't "get it" the first time around are fine for dorks like Childress.

If BB picks up one of the fastest players in the league who has learned some life lessons and can play teams and maybe even 5th receiver, he'll take it and say welcome back.

Bethel was immature and stupid, but you don'r need to be a Rhodes Scholar, especially with his physical gifts, to play teams and WR in the NFL.

If he's cut, what have we lost-nothing! Nice competition at camp next year.

Interesting situation. Technically, he could play, but doctors will tell you that players that have to cut, like WRs and RBs, don't recover fully til the second year.

Any othe position he probably plays on it without noticeable difficulty.

That hypothethis fits the fact of him not making the 46. Maybe he's really not 100%, but if so why did BB activate him for a game as a KR? BB is inscrutable however.

A poster earlier said correctly that even IF he got a good trade offer, BB likely would not react until the signing situation with Moss, Gaffney and Stallworth was at least partially resolved.

Anyway, the point is moot until March. Let's see if maybe CJ gets activated again for a ST role in the playoffs.

how many of our current receivers have re-signed. If Jackson is

slated to be the 4th or 5th receiver, then the Pats may entertain

trade offers. Jackson's contract runs out after the 2009 season.
