Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
AJ Brown is 6'1" 225-ish. He could lose 10 lbs, gain a little speed / quickness and still be just as effective...or more.

No he couldn't. After Super Bowl LIX, he totally reworked his body and was clocked at 22mph. He dropped 2% body fat bringing him to around 7.5%. There is nothing left to drop. His 38.5-inch vertical jump is two inches higher than his 2019 scouting combine measurement. The dude cannot get any better physically. He will actually now begin decline. He can get much better mentally though.

If it's true what's being reported that supposed Pittsburgh and Jax are in talks about BTJ.. then we need to be involved as well.. I'm sure BTJ and his agent would rather him going to a team with and elite QB than the mess at QB in Pittsburgh right now.
@rochrist

You don't agree that BTJ would rather play with Drake then whatever Pittsburgh has at QB?????????

You're right. I should have written it out. I'm sure he'd rather play with Maye. I just don't want him.

Well being as how he's only 23 or 24.. they have Myers and some other guys that have risen.. seems they are listening.. he'd be wasted going to Pittsburgh...

I see the disconnect. I thought you were still talking about AJ Brown. As to Thomas, sure, he'd be great, but Jacksonville would be insane to trade him for anything less than a lunatic offer and I'm not interested in that.

Yeah.. I'm thinking the asking Price from Philly may be to much to bare.. but seen as how BTJ is in trade talks figured we should be in on as well.. I really don't know what the ask for him would be?

But if the Pats want to load up and go balls to the wall and try to get back to the SB, its a consideration. Elliot says we are not in a rebuild. That's what a team does if they are not in a rebuild. But I believe we are still rebuilding because our roster needs depth that can only come through the draft and great contracts retaining key players. We are not there yet. So I say if we can get AJ for a 3rd rounder in 2027, then do it. Nothing more.

I am really not a fan of this trade the more I think about it. I don't want to part with draft capital given the many holes on this team.

Reports say they will franchise Pierce if they can't reach a contract extension so 99% likely he's not going to be a free agent.

You would have to trade for a receiver better than Boutte. They just don't get to free agency unless they are like Mike Evans, older and/or coming off injury.

At present, it appears that they are going to Transition Tag Daniel Jones. If they do, they can't use the Franchise Tag on Pierce. I do agree with what you said though. It's more than likely that they have the framework for a deal in-place with Pierce. However, If Pierce actually does hit the market, I would prefer him over Brown.

BB chose Boney Thornton over Alec Pierce. Maybe we can get Thoronton again in FA.

I mean there has been a wild fire around Brown to Pats, well past the smoke stage. So I’d be kind of shocked at this point if Brown wasn’t wearing Bledsoes old jersey by next week.
Great points... I'm sure they've thier talks on other guys as well.. I'd absolutely love for the AJ deal to come to fruition last I heard on it was yesterday. The eagles are asking for a first... it's likely going to be a similar deal to DK Metcalf.

Not with that poison pill contract Twin.

I'd certainly rather have Alec Pierce but Pierce's 30-45 catches a season don't really pop out at you, do they? And a 50% target rate?

Now, Pierce has a super high yards per reception at 20 per. Which is great.

But, one could argue that Boutte has been as good as Pierce since he has a similar number of receptions, a much higher target rate at 70% and 17 yards per catch.

Why in the world are the JAGUARS MOVING ON FROM HIM?
who said that they are?

A mediot suggested that possible trades that make sense to him. They get paid for that. We have a poster here who does that for free.
