2026 Draft: EDGE

I think that he is going top 50 because after that athletic performance and his back to back 8.5 sack seasons. I imagine that he will do very well in all of his interviews and will endear himself to teams.
Guys always slip (but my impression is that OL doesn't). Last year who thought Farmer was R4 and Swinson was R5?

If the Pats got Rodriguez and Jacas in the 1st two rounds, I'd be ecstatic..
Gettable at 63 is my guess.

They can't all go 1st round.

That's 41, I can find more.
Jacob Rodriguez had great tape and has answered the athletic questions. I think he can be added to the list.

So to address @DaBruinz, I think to get those 2 guys would need a trade out of the first or take one of them at 31 and then trade up from 63. If they are able to trade 31 and move into the late 30's I think it would be reasonable to take either guy and then trade up.

I would love adding those 2 players to the defense

Jacas and Rodriguez would be great, but our OL is still the need (says the BPA guy - smile to Clonamery). Can't leave Drake in a A. Luck or D. Carr situation.

What you have is a mini-BPA, a finite position and player list for your Day 1 & 2. Day 3 a wider BPA net with picks that are left.

Farmer or Grable would be instant upgrades to the Guard position.

So I was thinking about the Edge position and by signing Landry. Chaisson and drafting Ponder was that Vrabel telling us his preferred type of guy, a smaller speed guy? If thats the case I feel like Cashius Howell might be the guy.

Although I recall reading about Mike Smith or clint McMillan telling Chaisson to use more speed to power. So if thats the case that they want speed to power be the base of the pass rush plan then Jacas, Parker, Mesidor, DDS might be the group they pick from.

I am curious on opinions of the type of Edge rusher they are looking for

Bruce Feldman on Zion Young:

"Zion Young seemed to be a guy some NFL D-line coaches like more than some of the draft analysts do at this point."

Aiden Hutchinson and Dani Dennis-Sutton would be a scary combo.

I've been looking into Dani Denis-Sutton this morning. Despite him having a relatively low pass rush win rate, there's a lot to like. I'll start with this tweet. There's some pretty good company at the top of this list.

The second line of the below scouting report is relevant to the Patriots' defensive coaching staff.

Watch clips 3 and 4 below.

In clip 3 you can see him standing up over the middle. It's an excellent showcase of his change of direction, athleticism and effort. DDS is #33.

In clip 4, you can see that he has effort for days. Talk about not giving up on plays to the opposite field.

I don't think DDS is a pure pass rusher that will get you 10 plus sacks in year one or even year two although I think that will come in his career. He is, however, an excellent multi purpose piece - excellent at setting the edge, athletic enough to drop into coverage or spying the QB. The CoD is apparent on film and the effort is outstanding. He can rush inside on twists and stunts but I wish I'd seen more evidence of him winning & bending the edge against OTs. I like him more than Keldric Faulk. I get excited by his athleticism alongside Milton Williams and by year 3 I think he could be one of the better players on our defense.

I like him a lot as someone who can contribute day one, but will be at his best in 3 years. 2025 Chaisson is his year one ceiling, 2025 Anfernee Jennings is his floor.

I love pairing DDS with a more twitchy EDGE like Odafe Oweh.

I think DDS is bendier than Keldric Faulk. He may not be a 10 sack guy right away, but he will bring plenty of pressure.

2025 Chaisson is his year one ceiling,
By this I mean that he won't get a lot of clean win sacks, but his effort and athleticism will help him benefit from the work of the interior DL, especially Milton Williams. There will be many a clean up sack in his immediate future along with some natural wins, particularly on inside moves.

Also, Milton Williams, DDS and Elijah Ponder would be an athletically elite DL.

Well that would hurt!

Ian Rapoport names Miami's Akheem Mesidor as Jets option at No. 2 overall

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tabbed a Miami edge rusher not named Bain as a possible Jets target at No. 2 overall, Akheem Mesidor, in what would be a head-scratching selection.

"It certainly opens the door, potentially, for the Jets to take an edge early, early in the draft. David Bailey, could be Mesidor, could be Bain. Plenty of options for the Jets, but they lose a starter and now have a need."
Ian Rapoport

Whether he has info that Mesidor is that well thought of or is just listing first round edges I don't know, but that would have huge shock value.

We need to spread some "foot problem" rumors.
