I haven't watched a minute of the Olympics. They're all pretty much money-grubbing pros, media hucksters shilling for their "brand" and rabid narcissists at this point, aren't they? The notion - probably erroneous for some time now, in all honesty - that these are people motivated by a love of their sport, or - even more preposterous in these times - by a sense of pride in competing for their country is pretty much entirely horseshit, isn't it?
Ditto for college sports: couldn't care less The only basketball I enjoy these days is when I go to a local high school game. Those are terrific. The NBA is lousy basketball played by people you have to hold your nose to root for. Who needs it? The Tatum "documentary"? You can't be serious.
As for the NFL, that'll likely remain a somewhat guilty pleasure for a while longer, I suppose. It's a habit, and a lot of the current Pats team are solid, decent people, it seems to me, and I am happy to see them play their game, but I pay minimal attention to the other teams, except when they play the Pats.
Baseball? When I am looking for that sort of entertainment, I can paint an outbuilding, pull up a lawn chair, and watch it dry.
Don't mince words. How do you feel about the current state of spectator sports in America?
