So maybe the LG upgrade was just playing LT last season?LG wont help Campbell on the edge or driven backwards 5 yards into Maye.
LT is a top pick.

The reason in Jared Wilson was bad since his concussion, and at no point played above 'average'When they needed a 3rd and inches converted, they ran behind Onwenu and Moses… there’s a reason.
Onwenu had a great year. What did you see that has you down on him.I can't let Mike Onwenu steal another 20 million from this team again this year. I just can't do it. If he's still here next year, they failed to upgrade the position. It's that simple.
I was a bit down on him early, but he had a good year. No reason to replace him unless you can get equal play from a cheaper option, and those 2 things don’t usually come together.Onwenu had a great year. What did you see that has you down on him.
He is worth every penny of his $17.5m.
With the cap exploding, we're paying good money for a much better than good player.
You can make an argument that he is undervalued.
They literally cannot run screens because Mike Onwenu can't get out on a screen.Onwenu had a great year. What did you see that has you down on him.

I think there’s a fair amount of overreaction happening at this point. You don’t accidentally stumble into the best record in the entire NFL and no ease or schedule makes it possible. The team was very good. They can improve, but the doom and gloom going forward is unwarranted. The reason in Jared Wilson was bad since his concussion, and at no point played above 'average'
Also, they got stopped a lot on 3rd and inches.
Campbell played the top defenses after his injury. So Campbell did pretty damn good against weaker defenses, and not well against better defenses but that might be due to his injury, we do not really know. We do know that when Campbell played the Browns and was healthy, he did not do really well.So how did Campbell do? Pretty damn good, especially until his injuries and most everyone (including me) were signing his praises
Quite a few draft people brought up moving Campbell to G in the NFL.Finding this report does give some validity to your position, but you are ignoring what is available on his college tape and his pre-injury NFL tape.
Personally I’ve spent quite a bit of time watching that over the course of 2 years after reading about Campbell back when Jaden Daniels was lighting up the NCAA his senior year. I’m not claiming any great expertise here but I enjoy doing that and didn’t see all that much of what is in that report. Not none but not a lot and considerably less than I saw with anyone else in his class except Banks and Simmons.
People here say "Well, its Myles Garret and nobody does well against him"Campbell played the top defenses after his injury. So Campbell did pretty damn good against weaker defenses, and not well against better defenses but that might be due to his injury, we do not really know. This person does not exist.People here say "Well, its Myles Garret and nobody does well against him"
I want an LT who dominates Garret once in a while.
This person does not exist.
Him, Ogden, Williams and Munoz clones should all be available at 31! Maybe we can get the next Hannah at 63!!Just need to find another Tony Boselli. Shouldn't be too hard.
They need to try something. I think the last two SB's have proven that having a great to elite QB does not matter with bad OL play. It's the most important unit after QB.
I think there's a fair number of fans who haven't been paying attention the last several months when Owenhu has been an absolute anchor on the line. I can see them restructuring his contract, if they want to free up the cap, but I think it's unlikely they cut him and then have to try to sign another top guard.
I'm going to start calling you, Ring 3, because you're only half as obnoxious as your mentor.
I do not think it would be wise to cut Owenu, because he was our best OLman and he played very well this season in the run and pass game. I do not believe that he has any GTD money this year, so a new contract would probably be easy to work out. If they can not reach an agreement then trade him rather than cut him.
An upper echelon guard at 30 years old should bring a 3rd or 4th rounder and the OG draft class is pretty good, but doubt you can get a rook to give the same production the Owenu gave you especially if Moses gets hurt and you need to put a youngster in at RT.
I am firmly in the camp of pursuing a very good LG in David Edwards and trying Wilson at Center and keeping Owenu. I would like to think that Wilson being sandwiched by 2 above average guards would help him significantly.
The top guard is Edwards and he's same age but months older than Onwenu. Onwenu is a better player overall.
If you go that route, you probably assume Onwenu will not age as well due to his weight problem.
Onwenu (age 28 when season starts) was 20th in pass block win rate per ESPN for Interior Lineman, PFF had him 13th Overall among Centers and Guards
Edwards (age 29) is not in top 20 PB win rate and 31st on PFF
McGovern (age 28) is 5th in PB win rate and 26th on PFF.
Linderbaum (age 26) is youngest and 4th PB win rate and 8th on PFF. He also wants to stay in Baltimore so....
If they had drafted Zach Frazier instead of Polk like I said.......Damn that 2024 draft
Sportrac has:
-Linderbaum at $17.7 per year,
-Mcgovern $16.2
-Edwards $19.9
If Lindenbaum is available and the bidding war doesn't get crazy I think you try to get him because pro bowl players in their prime don't become available often and center is the least costly line position. He will have several teams after him.
If you add Linderbaum, draft another guard to compete and hope Wilson and Campbell working together in season 2 with a top center will be improved. Or you take a flyer on a Vera-Tucker type player.
In the end they may spend money elsewhere and focus on a guard in the first round. If Olaivavega Ione drops to 21 maybe you can move up in front of Chargers. Or else you're looking at Caleb Lomu, Chase Bisontis and a couple other guys at 31. Of course, now you then have Wilson at center, a rookie LG and Campbell at LT.
No definitive answer at guard. Wilson actually rates well as a pass blocking guard but not so well-run blocking but also was a rookie. He should improve. Seems ideally suited for center though.
I used ESPN article for blocking efficiency and used total Offense score or total rating on PFF. 2 slightly different metrics. I don't know where the ESPN article got its data. When I go to the PFF Guard page for blocking (premium stats), they have Onwenu tied for 6th amongst guards for pass blocking efficiency at 98.1%. The only RG ahead of him is Zeitler at 98.2%.
When I click on the TPS Eff, then Onwenu moves to 5th overall and becomes the top RG.
Which page are you looking at when you say that he was 13th amongst Guards and Centers?
On a separate note: The fact that Spotrac thinks that Edwards is worth 19.9M is laughable. Especially considering that he was 28th in terms of pass protection efficiency at 97.3, 35th in pressures at 27. There were 15 other LGs who took at least 575 snaps who gave up fewer pressures and 12 who had better pass protection efficiency.
Some baseball teams operate this way. Need hitters. Go out and get more pitching. That ought to fix it.So maybe the LG upgrade was just playing LT last season?
